exhaust advice HELP!

ok heres my delema. i have a 40s series flowmaster single in/out, which comes out the side of the truck. i just got a tip welded on, and it doesnt look right. you can see all the weld, and it just looks crappy.
i saw a truck like mine with dual outs on the back, and it looked awsome. i was so jealous. how much would it cost me just for a single in/dual out, and everything. what do i need to do? do i get tips, or 2 straight pipes?

I had just what you said done about 3 months ago or so and for one 70 Series Flomaster 3 in. inlet and dual 2.5 in. outlets, two pre-bent tailpipes to come out the back, two 3 in. stainless steel tips, plus labor for $306.

where'd ya have that done? i was thinking of having a 70 series muffler done, with just 3" out, single on the stock (right) side. i hate taking the stock, stainless, "lasts 8-10 year" system off, (and hanging it in the shed for a later date) but i yearn for a throatier, better sounding exhaust.....
are the pipes aluminized, or stainless??? i hate that exhaust pipe rusts away so quick.. i live in PA.. the "pothole & salt" state.

yes, that is exactly the set up im going to run. they quoted me about $350 plus tax (canadian $$) i was looking at 40s series flowmasters.

get the "origional 40s", they are a few bucks cheaper and a lil bit louder and deeper tone.

I had mine done, flowmaster 40 single 3"inlet, dual 2.5" outs, straight out the back 3.5" chrome tips for $250

A place called "H & H Auto" in Salyersville, KY. To be honest, I don't really know what the tail pipes are made of, but I'm guessing its just galvenized (spelling). They aer def. not stainless steel, possibly alluminzed but I doubt it. I really like the 70 series much better then the 40s. The 40s will drive you crazy inside the cab after about an hour of driving, lol whereas the 70s are not much louder then factory mufflers at highway speeds (when you first pull out or when you step on the gas is another story though, def. have a NICE mellow rumble).
I gave $125 for the 70 Series "Bigblock II" muffler with 3 in. inlet and dual 2.5 in. outlets, $30 a piece for the tail pipes to come straight out the back (pre-bent), $33 a piece for Magnoflow 3 in. stainless steel tips and I'm guessing they are something like 18 in. long, and then what ever the guy charged for labor and tax. In KY, we get alot of salt and have alot of potholes as well, lol. I figure this setup will last as long as any other exhaust, lol (i hope anyways).
If you just left your factory pipes, and just cut out your existing muffler, and put a 70 series back (they are HUGE by the way, lol, but it was a perfect fit on my truck, the one pictured) then you could save alot of money, lol. And 40 series Flowmasters are cheaper (the shop I had mine done priced the same set up only with a 40 series for $260), but they are LOUD inside the cab.

That sounds about right compared to most other muffler shops. The place I had mine done was MUCH cheaper then the others. To go with 40 series muffler and chrome pipes I coudl have got mien for $229 I think.
The 40 series are alot cheaper (like roughly $40, atleast where I got mine done anyways) then 70 series, and if you don't mind the loud cab noise, then that would be the best way to go.
I say go for it buddy. I love my exhaust. I almost had my pipes run out at an angle behind each tire, but when you do that you sling mud and rocks and everythign else on your tips, lol. I like it the best out the back. Alot of people have commented on the sound of my truck and the looks of the pipes. It will setya back a few dollars, but you will love it once you have it done!

whats the diffence between regular 40s series and the new super 40?

Only problem with rear-exit eshaust is if you tow, the front of the trailer and/or any exposed load (motorcycles, etc.) will get nasty black stains all over. If you don't tow, go to it and and enjoy!

I just had mine done as well. I had down pipes come into a single cat and then straight pipes all the way to the rear. It is not true duals but it looks like it from the rear. It is extremely loud and sound like I am running without an exhaust. The catalytic converter set me back 75.00 at Advanced Auto Parts and the exhaust got done at Danny's Muffler in Decatur, IL for about 240.00.
