i was thinking about taking out my a/c. i heard that you loose alot of weight (50-70 lbs.) and it would also free up some more power. has anyone else done this before? if so, how did it go?

Don't take out your air conditioning. ya you can free up some power, but is it really worth loosing that cold air when it is hot as s*it outside???? IMO no! Plus then your re-sale value goes waaaaay down. Well I guess if you live somewhere where you don't need a/c and you don't ever plan on selling the car then ok you can do it, but I still say leave it in. It is to nice a commodity to have. If you live somewhere hot, and you take that thing out, you will regret it daily!

Just remember, It's easy to take out but hard to put back in. A/C is worth 50 hp to me. Keep it unless your not a pussy like me. LOL

How the hell do you figure you are getting 50 hp by removing your a/c! :screwy:

Im not saying that you idiot. Im saying that I would rather have A/C than 50 extra ponies.

ah, I see. Me too. It is quite regularly over 100 up here in the summer, a/c is a must!

Ok, Im glad you catch me on that one. It gets to be about 95 degrees and humid here. It puts me in a bad mood. I even start breaking stuff and calling my girl a whore. LOL, Im joking but you catch my drift.

i live in Vermont. so the summers don't get too hot. and i don't plan on selling my car. with everything i've done already the resale goes down (depending on possible buyers), but so it's basically easy to take out?

Unless your car is stripped, the weight savings are not worth the luxury/necessity of A/C. The compressor weighs maybe 20 pounds, the condensor and evap maybe another 20 combined - if that. Its easier to pull the seats when you go race. Btw the hp loss is negligible unless the AC is actually on. Just my 2 cents.
