Interior Question

I have an uglyass maroon interior in the 82. I'm changing it to black and silver, has anyone tried that fabric paint or dye whichever it is and if so does it work? I'd hate to spend a ton for new seats when mine are in good shape, it would just take away from other ideas/projects I have for the car.

I know alot of people have used the paint and the dyes, I have not yet heard how they hold up though. I know they do fine on interior panels and dashes and stuff like that. I would worry about the paint coming off the seats onto your clothes though in the heat and just from rubbing against them all the time.

I'm just tryin to save some money here. The $400 bucks could b my new exhaust and its actually more to have them recovered. I went to a place here n town and the guy told me $350 plus material and then I found out he charges $20 bucks a yard for the same material u can get at walmart. The only seat covers I found ran $200 something. I mean I could do it but then I'd have to wait for the exhaust work and other stuff so thats why I was asking. Oh yeah its actually a die but in the spray can form and its only like $8 bucks a can.

You could probably buy a set of 4th gen seats for the same price as recovering. Maybe even pick yourself up a set of power leather seats.

See those are nice and would work great with the color sceme I'm doing but then again theres the cost factor. I do plan on getting new seats but I'm really wanting to get the exhaust work and other stuff done first.

The best thing about the 4th gen seats is that they are a direct bolt in. Thats not always the case with aftermarket seats. Atleast you could swap in a new set of 4th gen seats in like 10 mins tops.
