In progress: Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRX STI

This is my second kit and I am really plaesed with it so far. I am going to paint it silver and was thinking about doing a carbon fibre effect bonnet and SAS rear wing but only if funds allow and if i think my skills are up to the job. See what you think so far. Remember this is my second kit and also the pics dont do the model justice. Ill try to get some better pics.

Looks good. I agree with you. This is a great kit. It was my first Tamiya that I built, and I was very happy with it.

the last pic of the bottom looks funny! the gloss black on the front of the car looks like some kind of cosmic goo lol.

Nice kit. I Need to buy it someday too :biggrin: May I suggest some better looking and also bigger rims and a little lowering... Would do good to the car. If you apply a CF hood you got the skills to lower the car as well :icon16:

I agree, this is one of my first kits which I did too, I had mine in black.. it is a really clean fitting kit, open to lots of mods.. keep us posted :-)

Great choice on a great kit. I think the car will look great in silver. You hardly see any silver ones on the road (in my area). I think the SAS wing, CF hood, and a set of new wheels would look better and flow more together with the performance look of the WRX. Only bad thing is no motor :( Good luck with your build.

Update on my impreza ive painted it silver as i said i would but no clear coat yet. Ive also done a mock up of how roughly the SAS gt wing will look on it done in Adobe Photoshop. I also found some old wheels from a tamiya castrol mugen accord kit from years ago which ive painted black and may convert to female to fit to the impreza cant decide at the moment.

That wing will look awesome and I defnitely want to see those rime on that car!!!

I like the wing and the stock rims on it. A little lowering will do. :evillol:

Thanks for the comments guys. You will be pleased to know that I have clear coated it now and that ive done the carbon fibre hood (thanks to quality SAS CF decal set). As it was my first time using the cf decals i messed it up twice but third time round thought i will keep the bonnet scoop silver as i thought it would be easir to apply the decal. See what you think. I mite make the scoop CF and possible the boot lid too to go with the SAS gt wing.

Looks pretty good. I'd trim it up around the scoop and leave it silver. I think the scoobs look awesome with CF hoods and body colored scoops. Great work so far!

On hold at the moment due an item being missing from an order of paint and modeling tools. I cant start the interior as the paint missing is for that and ive lost one of the side repeaters so got to try to make one. Also i need to get some tint for the rear and rear side windows what do i need for this. Im pretty sure i can get hold of some 1:1 car window tint would that do?

Just trying out new sig. Hopefully will be started again soon.

Well its 99% complete now and I am well pleased with it. The only problems being losing a side repeater, wing mirrors didnt fit well and drivers side front wing paint gone wierd. Anyway mods include carbon fibre bonnet, SAS GT Wing (First attempt at making one so not perfect) and lowered. Heres some pics better pics to follow. I know that the end pieces on the wing are the wrong way round but i thought it looked better like that and there is only one wiper as i broke the other one so ill just say its got a single wiper conversion.

nice model !! the black castrol wheels would look AWESOME with the CF and silver paint im sure. give it a try
