I bought my 2000 Galant ES at an Auction, and so it only came with one key. That is the key that does not open the trunk. Not sure what the official name for it is. Cheuffer key?

Anyway, i locked myself out of my car, which cost me $30. It did not dawn on me to just go to the dealer with my VIN number to see if they could possible make me a key, dunno if that is possible. Besides the point....

Can someone help me get the master key to my car?

The Mitsubishi Galant 2000 es has a chip in the Key so you have to make an appointment at a dealership, and they will make you a key for about $100. It is crazy I still havent gotten a new key, im not gonna spend that!

Yoy can aslo look for an un-cut key on e-bay and then get it cut and programed at the dealership. This will save you some money.

If you get a key from ebay you can have anyone cut it aand then look in your owners manual and you will find the reprograming directions.

Yes it is, I didn't see the 1 key. You need 2 original keys to program any others.........

i went on ebay and found a certain dealer, the ebay username is legi0n and they sell transponder keys. They also offer some sort of affiliated thingy to get keys programmed (for those of use with less than 2 keys).

Here is my email to him.

Street Keys,
I saw your auction on ebay and I am very interested in getting second key for my 2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES. That is the problem though, I only have one key. So I need to know how much it would cost to get one of your local StreetKeys Affiliate’s to program the new key. I live in city, state, zip.

Thank you,
Rainfever

He replyed.

Hi Rainfever,
Yes we have locations in your area. Programming and cutting would cost $60

So from what i can see, it would be a minimum of $86 ($20 for the key, $6 shipping, $60 programming) plus driving time.

I want to say i'll call a mitsubishi dealer and get pricing from them, but im a bit lazy so i dunno how soon i would happen.

Hi - I had to go to the dealer for a key because my wife was going out of town right away. I think that the key cost $76 cut and programed, so it might be cheaper for you to go to the dealer.
