C230 questions

I'm in the market for a new car. I happened to stumble across the C230 coupe. It seems like a pretty nice car.
I have a few questions.
1) How easy is it to work on? I know this is a broad question, but I do all my own maintence. Always have, always will. I don't want a car that takes 3 hours and tons of specialized tools to change the oil. Also, I don't want the car in the shop unless its required.
2) Can the traction control and ABS be shut off, or is it always on? Sometimes its fun to slide a car around. Just curious.
3) Any major mechanical problems??? I'm paranoid about buying a 1st year car. I don't want a POS.
My background: I'm a mechnical engineer. I have been working on cars and bikes since I was 8. I enjoy working on cars. I'm not afraid of fuel injection and other computer controlled systems, as long as they are reliable.

i got a 98 c230 komp and when i bought it, it was for $12,000 at 29,000 mileage. It runs pretty good except in snow because i got a BAS light and that thing has no traction damn.
