Airbag light keeps blinking

After washing my car, the airbag light flashes continually. This has only gone on for a day. Should I assume it might be a wet sensor or should I take it to the dealership as the car remains under warranty. I wasn't sure if anyone else had experienced similar problems as well.

New to me. I'd take it in. It'd suck to get in an accident in the rain and find out the hard way your bags don't work .

If the system cannot pass check - meaning all the airbags and sensors can be fully test on startup then the system is disabled and the light flashes.

Most likely:
- one of the senors failed, or the wiring to is loose - around various spots in the perimeter pf the car
- the sensor in the driver's seat has failed, or wiring is loose (common - since the seat moves back and forth all the time)
- the clock spring wiring in the steering column failed to the driver's air bag

The dealer can quickly diagnos.

took it to the dealer. $160 bucks down the drain, something to do about a electrical sensor, but I dont have to worry about that bag blowing up in my face.

You were exactly right! I picked the car up from the dealership yesterday. The light was on due to a loose connection under the drivers seat.

What year is your LS, and is it the V6 or the V8?

Are you sure about that? I don't see that code 13 is a valid Lamp Fault Code. Are you counting flashes of the airbag light in the instrument cluster?

This is an interesting one to read as last winter I was chipping ice off the front of my car and ever since then, the passenger airbag light comes on when i start the car >> flashes at first, then stays on. I took it to my local guy and he said that I have to take it to a Dealership. Anyone ever hear of the sensor getting tripped cuz of knockin on the front panel of the car? That's the only thing I can think of that I did. It makes me mental :screwy:

When you first turn the key on, the light should be flashing a code before it goes on solid. Count the flashes and post the code(s) here, that will help us guide you to the likely culprit, and maybe help us correlate the suspect to knocking on the windshield.

To read the flashes, you could the flashes between pauses. For instance, if the light does: flash, flash, pause, flash, flash, flash, long pause, flash, pause, flash, flash, long pause, repeat this string a couple more times, then the light stays on constant -- this would indicate two codes, a code 23 and a code 12.

I don't find a code 14 or code 23, but I do find code 32 and code 42.

Code 32 is of higher priority and means Driver Air Bag Circuit Resistance High. Code 42 means Driver Side Crash Sensor Mounting Fault.

A code 32 is likely due to a faulty clockspring in the steering column. A code 42 may indicate a problem with the wiring harness under the driver's seat. These are two common causes for SRS issues on the LS. You can search the forum for more details, but I'd suggest you doublecheck the codes again to make sure the codes you posted are accurate.

I have the same problem. I get code 36 once in a while so I disabled the easy entry feature and had'nt had any problems in a while. but yesterday I dynamated the entire rear of the car and to do that I had the seat all the way forward. now the problem is back. I put the seat forward again and checked out the wireing and found one of the wires on the yellow 2 pin was severd off at the plug. now it looks like I have to find a new plug. any idea where I can get one? or tips? thanks in advance dan

You have a few options. You can get a new pigtail connector from the dealer. I don't know what the cost would be.

You can check a salvage yard for one in good shape and splice it in to your wiring.

You can use a pin extraction tool and remove the pin from the connector, splice in a new wire and new terminal, and call it good.

The method you chose will be somewhat dependent upon your comfort level with wiring repairs on a critical system.
