The easy thing to do would be to take off the trim and cover the holes by welding or fiber glass, only thing is that the grove will be there. You could weld some sheet metal over the grooves or even fiber glass over it but it wont be as strong.

you could just paint the trim......people do it all the time, personally I like the contrast of another colour and black trim.....

Just weld it. Sand down the weld, then fill in any gaps, then sand down more. Welding is the way to go on plain metal like that. Only use fiberglass if part of your body actually uses fiberglass.

welding is a good way to warp your doors if you're not careful, fiberglass is the safest way to go and just as good if done right.

I've shaved two S10's and welded it clean, no warp bud!

fiberglassing directly to metal isnt the best thing to do, because metal and fiberglass have different expanding qualitys, thus it could potentially fall off in years to come, i have shaved doors and mouldings from 4 of my past cars with no warping problems from welding, you should be fine

so have I, I'm not saying that it happens a lot, but if someone has to ask about shaving then they don't need to be welding on a car. :)
