Hi Guys, I have a 94 s-10 Blzr. I was wondering if anyone had installed hood piston rods. If so, did you have to buy/make any brackets? Also, what size pistons did you install? I'd like to see some pictures of an install if anyone has done this.

I robbed mine from a mid-90's Cutlass. Mount the brackets from the car to your hood, put a 3/8 bolt through the inner part of the fender (threads out) and nut it. The hardest part is getting the bolt through. Put a washer on the exposed bolt, bore out the 'eye' end of the strut slightly larger than 3/8 for freedom of movement and put it on the bolt. Another washer, and a lock nut tightened until the bolt just starts to come out the other end. When done, there should be a little freespace on the bolt threads so the strut eye has extra room to breath. That's the cheap way to do it. S10 hoods are light. Pop it and pull it up about 6" and it'll do the rest on it's own. Be very careful with your measuring. Work back and forth, and take your time before you drill any holes. Hope this helps.
