Where might this valve be mounted on this vehicle? '93 Escort LX 1.9L SEFI. I know what they look like, but can't seem to find it. Emissions label didn't help me. Thanks!

The EGR Valve should be located at the rear of the plenum (near the center of the vehicle) just in front of the firewall. There is a tube that runs from the tope center of the Exhaust manifold around the drivers side of the engine (actually the rear of the engine) to the EGR valve.

Do all Escorts have them, I bought one from the store because I am getting Engine Code #33. Can't find the thing anywhere on my car, nothing like they sold me. No pipe coming from the exhaust manifold, replaced that lastt weekend. Any clue?

jtrump, no, the 1.8 and 2.0 zetec don't!
t359, there is a pipe going up from the exhaust pipe just in front of the firewall to the egr which is mounted on the exhaust manifold on the 1.9 SEFI, on the driver's side.

daleb9,
thanks for the response but I have been under the car and looked everywhere, top and bottom. Not there, not on my emmisions diagram either. No pipe from the exhaust manifold, no pipe from exhaust pipe at all. I have the exact same engine as t358

Update:
I have now replaced the MAF sensor, car runs great now but engine light came on again. Car was jerking around, ran at full throtle and cold only. Now fine. Still has 33 engine code and 172 in memory.

cleared my memory by unplugging the jumper wire that I was using to initiate the test while the test was running. Only code 33 now.
