Our left rear rotor melted down causing the car to not be able to drive on I-20. They said they do not know why it happened. I see here other had rotors warp early. Could that be what caused ours tomelt down, overheating break fluid. All my wife expereinced right beforeit happened is that the car started to shake so she was in the process within seconds of pulling of the interstate when it started to smoke and she could not change gears or anything. Parking break was totally loose and could be pulled all the way up. Dealer just replaced both rear rotors and said have no idea why it happened. I think the dealer is full of it.

Helps.

Not sure what car you have.... but I have had a few watercooled VW's.. Every one of them has had a caliper stick. Either the cable was tight (alowing the parking brake to work fine inside the car, but not at the rotor), or the caliper "corkscrew" e-brake set-up got tight and stopped allowing the brake to release fully. On the other hand, the service guy could have screwed a few dif things up on the caliper, causing it to bind. I have had a ton of problems with the e-brake part of the calipers... anyone else?
