Hey! this is k3rnel and i am asking alot like cman's previous forum entry. i am only 13, but i am a "rich-kid" as you say. but i am not spoiled, i am not getting a porshce or ferrari. i am getting at best a civic or eclipse. i want to maybe open a garage, with all after-markey parts and installation (seen 2 fast 2 furious, i know ill get flames for this :D) but i dont know where i can start learning about cars. i also have a friend that is big into cars like me, but we dont know alot. i would like an informative link to learn alot about CARS and EVERYTHING about them, and how to install parts. i am also greatly interested in racing (not only street racing, i live right next to a track) and i want to know what kinda car i should get. and, what type of upgrades (saw someone else post yiou should make Upgrade Stages for a car, $5000 each stage. and make three of them).
well, im just confused, but i want to learn alot about cars. :D
btw, this is my first post :evillol:

Well, hey. If you want to learn about cars, this is to place to be. Go check out the different specific car forum for whatever car you're getting and just read through thread after thread. Dont be afraid to post asking a question. Most people will be glad to help you out. As you probably know, we don't take too kindly to people asking ridiculous stuff like stickers and the like... but anything not like that will be met with open arms.
Welcome to AF, you young'un.

Go to the mitsu forum then go into eclipse forum and your there. If I may say something though... don’t get a spyder. I know the one in 2f2f looked cool but their not that fast in real life. If you want an eclipse get a older one like mid 90s GSX if you got the cash. Much faster and has way more potential. If you don’t know what they are its the green car that walker races in the first F&F.

Id say go for a talon...usually cheaper than the mitsu but same performance. Good choice on the DSM, those 4g63 engines will give you great feedback if you treat them right and put in the right parts, able to put out 400Hp on stock internals. You can get most of the info in the Mitsu forum like said earlier, but check out the talon section as well.

just come to the mitsubishi forum section! the eagle, talon section is pretty much dead because mostly of them are in the eclipse forum. We in the mitsu section will help you with ur talon and laser questions ;)

i say dont start with a turbo car as you first car.. you are young and you do not know about cars and how they work.. play it safe and get something reailable to start off with the last thing you want is to be fixing you car every week when something goes.. also turbo cars espically older one develope nasty vacume leaks which are a bitch to track and fix and will really mess with your preformance.. not the best problems to run into if you are a newbie.. it requieres lots of troubleshooting and trial and error.. even tho i hate to say it buy a civic, accord, del sole, or lude. learn to drive, get into cars, master skills and know the basic parts of cars.. then advance to a better car.. heck i started with a 91 mecury sable for crying out loud.. and im slowly working my way up there.. what i use to do for fun and b/c i wanted to learn was reading up hanyes manual and clinton manuals on different cars they are very helpful and you can learn alot about different cars and their motors.. also check out www.howstuffworks.com i belive that is the site and it will explain in detail about how things like motors, force induction, trannys, ect. work.. if you can look at all the car shows on tnn horsepower t.v. trucks. ect they can be informative also.. also google is your friend search and you shall find..
i know i learnt a alot from a/f there is tons of info in here you just need to decidated your self to reading it all.. just post the correct quesions in the correct forums and well be more then happy to help! well GOOD LUCK and WELCOME :WELCOME:

saw someone else post yiou should make Upgrade Stages for a car, $5000 each stage. and make three of them
well, I was referring to cman solding his benz and getting about 25 grand for it. Then I suggested to buy a car for 10g and use the other 15g for performance upgrades.
There's nothing like a "3-stage-5g-rule" - it's just reasonable to make a list/plan what do you want to do with your vehicle.
It's necessary to plan which upgrades come next -
You don't buy a giant T88 turbo, big injectors and nitrous at first, hoping your engine's internals will hold it.
I also suggest to set yourself a limit - If you have loads of money to spend on a car, try to make your car powerful but reliable - don't overload your engine, make everything step by step.
Don't aim too high - Buy a nice little car with potential - Nissan Silvia, '90 RX-7, Mitsu Eclipse, Talon, Civic (bah) etc
A 300ZXTT or 5.0s are cool cheap cars but I wouldn't dare to buy one :) (lack of experience)
at your age I'd say - first comes reliability, second parts availability/aftermarket and third, the looks.
I hope someone agrees :D

Just search all over the internet and if you want a fast first car go for it but if you havent started driving yet, practice in your parents car hehe! Thats what i did, my first car is my 89 corvette and it is being a real b*tch with problems. Like everyone says once you mod it your in for it, but seriously practice with you parents car because you dont want to get into an accident with an expensive car.
