First - The "Service Engine Soon" light is on and my trusty local repair shop said that the diagnostic tester indicates that something within the EGR system is faulty. not wanting to spend several hundred dollars to replace eerything, the mechanic said to "live with it" as its not harming the truck. Any ideas to correct this inexpensively???
Second - When the right turn indicater is used while crusie control is operating, the cruise control disengages and I have to hit resume to re-activate it?? Any suggestions??
Third - when I put the truck in gear and begin driving, the doors automaticlly lock. This is extremely annoying, as I'm in and out of the truck all day!! Can the dealer reprogram this feature or do I need to disable it completely???
Many thanks for the help....

You'll have to correct the EGR problem sooner or later. Some of the environmental controls have a life time warranty on them, some have a 100k warranty. You might have a dealer check to see what's covered.

I very sincerely doubt that they'll do it(I work at a Ford dealer) cause its a safety issue and the locks are supposed to do that. My locks do that too. The only thing you can do is pull the fuse for it, which is connected to other circuits as well so you'll lose other things.

Ford CAN reprogram the door locks to not lock automatically, and there is no reason why they should not be willing to do so. I know for a FACT that MANY GM owners have had the very same issue with their vehicles, and the dealers are more than willing to change it for them (if soon enough after purchase, for free even).
As for your turn signal cancelling cruise, most likely the turn switch is shorting out so the cruise "sees" voltage in the brake light circuit when it should not.

Use your manual that came with the truck. Our Alero did the same thing and I changed it so it does not lock at all while driving. If I remember right, I had 3 options to choose from in the book. It was a simple fix.
