I asked this in the FI section but I didn't really get the answer i was looking for.
My question is regarding NOS direct port system, with an 80 shot on a d16 stock block. Somebody replied in the FI forum and said that if i upgraded fuel with a new pump, fpr, and injectors it would fine. I know this violates the 50% rule.
Does anybody out there run a setup like this? I wanna hear if they've ran this without shooting rods through their oil pan. If so, what size pump and injectors are you using?

i don't know much abou direct port nitrous, but i do know that my friend who sprayed nos all the time had a 75 shot on a d16 w/i/h/e... he blew it after he switched the pill out for a 150 shot (by mistake).. he was good about checking his engine all the time to make sure everything was working right etc... with a 75 shot of nos he was hanging with if not lighting up Z28s which is crazy to me (that's medical grade nitrous.. burns better and doesn't smell like sulfer..) I'd say start with a 55 shot, make sure it only sprays at WOT and use it sparingly.
yah, it's easy to blow your engine shooting Nitrous, but then again.. that's mostly if your being a dumbass and shooting too much too often.. that's just my experiance at least...

sorry man, i'd love to give you some encouragement, but it's just not worth the risk without building up your engine.

Well the cheapest way I've seen of running more than 50% on a stock block is to upgrade fuel as you said and have a nitrous management system. What you do is program the thing to do is to run extremely rich while spraying. It mimics the "safety mode" the ECU goes into when there's a problem. Basically, what you do is flood the engine with fuel to buffer the increased cylinder pressures experienced while spraying.
The stock system also does this in a way when you run at WOT near redline. It's a cheap protective measure. I would also suggest you get an upgraded head gasket, new rings and an upgraded clutch if you care about reliability in the least.
The extras I would also suggest are fluidyne or teg radiator, new valves, and shot peened pistons. But they aren't vital.

I'll sell you mine for $500 + s/h. I don't have any idea what it would be. Know anyone getting rid of a B16?
