YOu could do a ls vtec. I'm sure there are plenty of people on the site that can give you all the details involved with this set up. It has it's pros and cons................................

It's just like it sounds. YOu can take the vtec head off of any dohc vtec engine and have it placed on your ls block. YOu will need a good import shop to do it for you though. Oil lines have to be moved, and gaskets, ect....... YOu will get lots of power out of it, but some people have problems with the engine. If you get a shop that realy knows what they are doing you should be fine, but if you don't, you could end up with oil problems and lots of other stuff.

Do a search, you will find more than enough info you need on the ls/vtec. Don't listen to people who say they are unreliable, it is like any mod it has to be done right when built. And if done right it will last a long time, and will give you more power than swapping your entire motor to a gsr motor. Plus it is relatively cheap!

problem with ls/vtec is simple, ls block is not intended for high revs while a vtec head is made to produce power in high rpm. so right there you have a mismatch. the r/s is not as good in an ls block as it is in a gs-r block etc. etc.

now to run ls/vtec you have to do one of two things either leave block stock and never rev up the rpm to the heads full potential, or rebuild the block properly so that it can handle high rpm.

obviously building the block seems like a good idea right? well it will cost at least the amount that it would cost to swap in a vtec motor to begin with. so anyway to do it properly you will spend just as much as you would have to just swap. on the other hand by spending that money you now have a fully built motor and it may or may not have alot more potential for the price.

in my opinion though if spending that amount of money on the block just so it can handle a vtec head, why not just leave the vtec out and boost.

anyway do alot of research on this before you decide what to do. there are alot of great threads in here that show pro/con of an ls/vtec. search them out and read them. also look in the FAQ thread I believe there is some stuff on it in there.

How are we wasting time, he was pointed in the right direction, to search. He was just being thankful that someone gave him that information. Nothing wrong with that.

Rather than doing a VTEC swap, take advantage of your lower-compression motor and turbocharge it.

I think he is looking at getting a newer car anyways.
