new brakes?

so i dunno if anyone here is into modifications of their 944's but I am looking at new rotors for the car..has anyone tried Zimmermann crossdrilled? I hear they eat pads like crazy..and I don't want to be buying alot of pads...what do you guys put on? the OEM brembo's? they are good but not all that attractive..

anyone have experiences with crosdrilleds or slotted?

Brembos require a donor strut, spindle, and hub assy from a turbo or S. (for an N/A)

As for drilled or slotted rotors, there is a lot of debate on whether they work better or not.

There's two methods for getting holey rotors. First there is good old fashioned drilling and then there is casting the holes into the rotors. I can give you pictures of drilled rotorsand the stress cracking that happens w/ hard braking.

IMO the only real advantage I've noticed w/ holey rotors is less unsprung weight and even that is minimal.

BTW, zimmermans rotors have cast in holes

Cross drilled are ok for the track but if your not tracking the car there is no real need( other than looks) Cross drilled should not use pads much quicker than original ones but under severe heat and stress they do tend to crack. But on the street you'll never make enough heat to hurt them

I would just get stock...what kind of wheels do you have? Unless they are aftermarket or off of another porsche it doesn't seem like you would see them very well anyway.

The front rotors are $176.00 each for either cross-drilled or gas slotted, rear rotors $218.00 each. Prices are in Canadian funds and are not inclusive of freight or taxes. Shipping would depend on where you live.

I found front ATE gas slotted rotors for $60 each, crossdrilled rotors for $88 each, and plain vented rotors for $45 each. Rear crossdrilled rotors are $110 each and std for $72. All in US funds though.

but the prices was quoted are from the KVR location in Ottawa, Ontario.
They do seem a bit steep though since you can go to the states and buy zimmermanns for under 100 a piece..Canada just sucks period when it comes to aftermarket parts..and most stealership parts as well..
