Hello guys!
I just subscribed to this forum. I have a "hand-me-down" Jeep Cherokee from my uncle (had it repainted, restored, etc.) and now is actually running quite nicely.
I'm wondering if anybody here could point me out to the best places on the net where I could get resource manuals, troubleshooting tips, pics of rigs, etc. particular to my jeep model. Here's the first catch: I DON'T KNOW (and my uncle is a bit hazy) ABOUT WHAT PARTICULAR MODEL MY JEEP IS! Embarrasing eh? ;)
Anyhow, my immediate concerns thus would be:
1. Is there a telltale way of getting the exact model/version(?) of Cherokee? Engine number, chassis no, etc? If so, what code would it be and where could I check it on the net?
2. Cherokee support here in the Philippines, by the way, is nil to non-existent. Thus, my desperation to resort to internet knowledge. :)
3. If it would be of any clue, my uncle told me this was a top of the line model Cherokee he bought sometime 85-88 (again, he's not sure, though I'm sure he could very well afford to buy indeed a top of the line of any model that time). It has all the luxuries that he desired that time (leather seats, two-tone outer paints, Jensen speakers, gold trimmings for even the wheel rims, hub, etc.). This is also a 4-liter guzzler by the way (he was rather emphatic about that fact that it actually sounded more like a major complaint!).
4. Where do I get a soft copy of the manual (be it doc, pdf, etc.)? The Jeep site (www.jeep.com) is very very unhelpful in this sense.
5. Where and how do I get exact specs of the model and other info?
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. I know there's this chance that I might be "laughed-off" in this forum for my rather naive questions bordering on stupidity. I just hope some of the more helpful could indulge me and point me, at least, to the proper direction.
Thank you and more power to this forum. So much for this really long first thread of mine. Fervently looking forward to any replies!
