Slippery film/radiator update

Had truck in first thing this morning; seeing that eye booger film at the top of the radiator made me nervous.

After doing a compression check, antifreeze flush/fill, as well as oil/filter, everything checks out fine. That eye boogery stuff turned out to be residue from possibly a flush/fill additive crap that Goodyear may have added at one of my service intervals.

I surely never have added an additive, and neither has Vern at Parker Imports, my mechanic since moving back to Colorado. He showed me what oil mixed in with antifreeze looks like - a creamy foam, kind of gives the green antifreeze a yellowish tint. Basically in resemblence to adding cream.

Antifreeze mixed with oil is, well, y'all know that! :eek7:

This boogery film didn't look anything like cream, nor was it foamy. Thank goodness, couldn't imagine old faithful giving me grief.

Truck also had a bubbling effect last night, with the radiator cap off - but I had caused that by syphoning out some antifreeze from the radiator itself. Vern bled the system and let it run for well over 20 minutes, no bubbling happening. :lol2:

Good to hear it's nothing! From what I've read, redline water-wetter (cooling system additive) has caused some slime build-up in some peoples system. You never know. Best just to leave water'n coolant in there.
G/luck
