I've been lurkin here for about 2 days, and decided to join up so I can compliment some of the modeller's here, and post some of my questions. so....
First off, Engines, where are places that sell replicas, or would it be better to buy a kit, and cast copies of the engine parts?

Second, Seats, I have wanted to cast my own, but don't have a good seat to start with, besides the ones from my Firebird Ram-Air (1998). Any where I can get these?

Lastly, wheels, I mainly know I can order these from HLJ, but any american sources?

Thanks in advance.

Hey, Welcome to AF Turbo, anyways, to get really good wheels for a good price, I order them from XSTuning.com They are very good quality, very cheap prices and it comes with tires, rims, and brake discs! I also shop at Scaleracecars.com its a great place to shop and it has anything you couyld possibly want from wheels, to harnesses, to seats, to bodykits, and etc. I hope this helps by the way, IF you need any help send me a PM and feel free to ask any questions! :P

Seats- www.scaleautostyle.com (http://www.scaleautostyle.com) However casting copies of those may violate Chris' copyright and terms of use.

Engines, most kits are curbside. However if you are in need in of a skyline motor theres a kit (R32 I believe) you can kit bash for it.

I didn't plan on selling them for money, just so I can use them to replace crappy kit seats that I may not like. Thanks for all the help, and I had seen the SAS seats, and I didn't really care for them, but I'll peruse there again. :disappoin

Has anyone been able to find seats on HLJ?

Only if he's selling the seats. It's perfectly legal for personal use.

Perry's Resin has some seats which look pretty nice. He has all sorts, from drag buckets to tuner type and a few in between. Scaleracecars has quite a selection in resin and white metal, they are worth a look too since there are many of different styles.

I don't know what sort of engines you need. If Japanese the seleection is rather limited. There are a few expensive white metal kits by Sakatsu and Studio 27. I don't think there are any resin Japanese motors. Best bet will often be getting a kit and stealing the motor out of it. American engines are a different story. Busting up a kit won't be any problem, as they are plentiful and cheap. There are a few resin offerings, too, by Ross Gibson motors, Perry's Resin and some others that escape me at the moment.

Wheels are rather hard to find this side of the Pacific, but with some searching you can find them. I don't use anyone but HLJ, Scaleracecars and Scaledreams, so I can't really help you there. But I do hope I helped some.

Welcome to AF, be sure to share some of your builds and stay for a while. We're serving lemon squares at 4:30.

Ha, lemon squares. Nice.

I have no intent on casting other's seats for money, although I'm gonna try and scratchbuild my own, but I'm not sure what to use. I was thinkin magic-sculp putty, but not sure. Ideas?

Oh, getting a digicam soon, so you guys can see my awesome 1$ paintjob, the orange isn't as bright as I would've liked, but I'll let you guys see it.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I had a quick question. I found many helpful tutorials here: http://www.armorama.com and was wondering if this method would work for recreating any seats that I scratch build:

any ideas?

Maybe you could try and take a standard seat from a kit and then using putty giving it a new shape, like i did with the body of my project.
I have not done this with seats but am planning to also use this method to make some sparco seats for my kit (it's cheaper than buying them from sas)
