Your first mistake was bolting the converter to the flywheel. Doing this can damage the seal to the front pump on the tranny when trying to bolt them together.

You will need to install the converter onto the input shaft of the tranny. There are splines that the converter needs to lock onto. You may need to lift and turn the converter a few times to find the splines where they slip together. If the converter is not mounted correctly, the transmission will bind up like you are dealing with.

After that, you can then bolt the tranny up to the motor, making sure to line the converter bolt studs up to the flywheel.

Hop that was clear enough for you.

Like Craig said you need to put the convertor into the tranny and then bolt it all together like that. Example is the 5.0 AOD convertor needs to actually been put on turned it will drop, then turned again till it drops again. Then one more time it has 3 "clicks" so to speak.

Also, when the tranny is tight against the engine...Grab a converter stud, give it a quick wiggle. It(the stud) has to wiggle back and fourth within the hole in the flex plate. If it don't move freely then still not good.

You may have already "crashed" the pump though. :(

If it won't come out of the tranny, then the pump has been "crashed" And the pump gears are stuck to the converter.

The pump needs to come off and at least have new pump gears. If the hub on the converter is out of round, you'll need a new or rebuilt converter also. Or used.

Couple of prybars and you should be able to get the converter out, hopefully.
