Well fist off, maybe a month and a half ago, after getting lost and finding the highway again, I was running late for work so trying to get back sort of on time. I also didnt realize it was a 50 mph highway. So I'm passing a minivan at around 85ish and see a county cop on the shoulder that i couldnt see cuz of the van. Well he radar'd me at 88 and i got a ticket for that. On top of that he threw on careless driving and failure to keep to the right on a highway. So I went to court for that but my lawyer wasnt there and she had put in for an adjournment, the judge said theyd send me a new date and now we havent recieved it yet and my dad's gotta go to the county courthouse to follow up on it (says the lawyer.) Then yesterday coming home from teh shore after a toll booth I check my mirrors (in my dads hyundai elantra), put on my blinker and go into the left lane (from the middle). Turns out tho there was a state cop in my blind spot. He pulled me over and said i pulled into his lane w/o a blinker and almost took his fron bumper off (well there was at least a car space...). This pissed me off cuz now i got tickets again, and i used my damn blinker. And apparently in NJ with this new GDL bullshit, if someone on the provisional license (all 17 yr olds, inc me) gets any points the license is suspended. So i dunno what to do, esp. since this here was just a complete honest mistake - i didnt see the guy. Dunno if anyone's got any advice besides that im retarted :/, but nething would help

go to court, clean yourself up, dress nice, shave, brush your teeth, get a haircut, speak politely, never show you pissed, show respect, and calmly explain to the judge what happend. from your point of view. apologize for it, kiss all the ass you can. and the judge will know bull when he/she hears it. the judge wants the truth, just dont badmouth the cop when you do it. tell the judge it was a different car than you normally drive, and you werent fully aware of the blind spots. also, i would reccomend voulentaraly taking a defencive driving course before the court date. this will show well in court. other than that, good luck.

I definately agree with that advice. Sounds like something that would happen to me! Good luck!

so you got to wait anther year till u 18? that sucks, just dont lie too much and make it obvious, and maybe pay your lawyer a little extra, and he can help you a little more, dunno if this sounds too b.s. but say you were driving around 50mph and the van was just going too slow, and for some reason(usually the big engined cars usually make the car behind it smell the gas) and say you went to turn away from the smell, so you pushed it to about 88 for just a sec, and there you got busted... good luck

Thanks guys.
If I take a defensive driving course before then, can I still do it after to remove points?

It only removes points on your liscense, and until you get a verdict you have no points... i was in the same situation. Also, I don't know how NJ court is, but good luck, here in NY, none of that kiss as stuff gets you anywhere, they just want to get paid. They never listen to your side, really don't give a damn, and just slap you in the face w/ whatever... as far as my experience and my friends, the system is really a scam, it all comes down to $$$... you get what you put in aka you show up w/ a $10,000 lawyer you won't get S*it. I hate the system!!!

I guess that 89's advice only works in certain places cause that got me on 9 months of probation.

dress with some tight ass paints and some goofy looking shirt , if your white work it cause believe it or not it will help a great deal , thats what i use to do when i had to goto juvenile court , i use to wear these tight black jeans with this small long sleave blue shirt and man it really help cause i looked like this goofy white boy , or atleast in my case it did

but then again traffic court is a little differnt , dont miss your court date its a bitch geting another one if you wait long enough....

dont worry i had a provisional license too in California and i got caught doing donuts and all u have to do is go to traffic school and that takes the point off for that speeding ticket since i think thats like 2 points, not sure about the point system in NJ but yeah go to traffic school it cost like 35 dollar court fee plus like 80 bucks for the school itself.

the defencive driving school will still take points off before the verdict, it is possible to have negative (good) points, so if your record is clean, it will take you to negative 4 i think, so the verdict will simply add points to that ammount, so instead of positive 6 points or whatever, youll only have positive 2.

It's a damn good book, most of the info can be found online, but it is alot easier to just buy it, plus it has all the stuff written out, so you can just read directly from it, so it's worth it in my opinion.

I jus heard back from the lawyer today that she got the discovery back from the prosecutor and it had no notes. I assumed this would be a good thing but she said it doesnt hurt or help (?!?...) im not trustin her too much she asked me nearly nothing about my case... i wanted to take shit into my own hands a bit but my parents wont let me order any books online, they say im better off w/o them and just relying on the lawyer... fuck im worried. She hasnt even really asked me any questions about my case. She said shes gonna have her secretary call the court tomorrow and get a new date for sometime next week... such short time. I'm actually gettin really scared about this...

So now she says shes never dealt with a minor before and so basically isnt too sure what shes doing. And says now that if i want to fight it then i have to pay $600 for an expert witness (the tuning fork hasnt been tested in over 14 months). Also made a little comment to my mom, somehting along the lines of "you can pay for the expert and have you son kill someone, or you can let him take what he deserves"
