GT vs. GST

what do u think is faster, 2G GST or 3G GT (both standard)

also the gst is lighter and has a better 1/4 time

the GT can get it through the first two gears, but once the turbo kicks in on the GST...thats all she wrote.

I don't know about that one cuz me and my buddy have Eclipse GT's. He has a 2000GT with a AEM cai,Linear Ground wire kit,Greddy EvO catback, Short shifter that runs a 15 flat. I have a 2001 Eclipse GT with an INJEN srai, Linear groundwire kit. Mines pretty much stock. He always runs into GST's and yes I said GS-T's and he kicks there asses,Its weird tho cuz he has more stuff done and when we race I either stick side by side with him up to 120mph or I win. Mine has The sport package with leather interior moonroof, infinity, and all that other good stuff and it aint a GTS, I know theGTS have about 10 or 15 more hp then a normal GT but mine aint one so how do i keep with him? BUt anyways,a second gen GS'T runs a 15.7 and thats the 95 cuz thats the fastest year in the 1/4 mile. They put out 210hpand 200lbs of torque and a stock GT runs a 15.6,15.7 in the 1/4 mile with 200hp and 205lbs of torque. SO theyre similar but Id have to give it to the 3Gen GT

the gs-t's are 4 cylinders with turbo.....and the 3rd gen gt's are six cylinders without it. the gst's stats are only slightly higher than the gt when they'er higher. even though the gst's are supposidly faster i'd give it to the 3rd gen GT. put some turbo on that v6 and it's a monster compared to the gst.

the evo is a 4 banger with a turbo, so ur sayin that a GT can beat an evo?

you are looking at too many numbers. a stock GT does not have 200 hp, its more like 170-175. and the guy that posted this thread wanted to know which one was faster, stock for stock. im sure that a modded GT can take a stock GST.

Stock for stock, it would basically be a driver's race.

A 2g stock does not run a 15.1 A GS-T is a 2.0DOHC Turbo FWD its more like a 15.7 for a "stock" GS-T.

Stock 2nd gen gs-t's run high 14's with good drivers & with the same amount of $ put into modding the 2nd gen and 3rd gen I think the 2nd gen would still win because the engine runs real stronger with a simple turbo swap. :smile:

Since you are comparing the 2G and 3G Eclipses...I am a personal fan of the 2G myself. Always wanted one and still looking if I could find the right one. Anyways, question. A buddy of mine at work just bought a 2003 GTS V6. He claims it has turbo, but I am yet to find any evidence of a turbo being in that model car. Not even Mitsubishi's site has it having turbo in the car. Can someone please clarify....does the 2003 GTS come with turbo?? Stock turbo??

no it does not come with a turbo

I WISH!! man i woulda gotten that one! the GTS comes with a different ECU and wiring w/ a variable intake timing to add 10 or 15 hp i can't remember but thats what the dealership peeps tolded me

The deud at work is kinda upset, now that I told him that his GTS does not have turbo. The dealer sold him the car telling him it was a V6 turbo. He was gloating about it when he first got the car.....now he is all pissed off at me. I wasn't trying to burst his bubble, but he was just gloating way too much...HaHa

i would go back and give that dealer a piece of my mind. i would guarantee that he would never say that a car had a turbo on it when it doesnt

better yet, tell him to go get what he paid for and make the dealer put a turbo kit on it, THAT would be something
