Are you talking about removing the ram air setup already in place that gets the air from the hood?? If thats what you mean then I dont see the point in replacing the intake because those work fine.

well, first off, lets please not start the ram air topic. just to set it down, its a name, not a function. the scoop does not ram air into the engine, its just another style of cold air intake. so all youd be doing is swapping the stock cold air setup for an aftermarket one, that will flow more air more likely than not, so i would go aftermarket.

The ram air hood like the ones on the TA are the best cold air intake as far as im concered. Nevermind those horse shat "cold air intakes" that run a fancy aluminum pipe and stick a K&N filter on the end. Only so the filter can eat up hot air from the engine bay.

Dependss on the Year SS. if it is an LT1 then you will benefit from a CAI over the SS setup. On a LS1 car it rally will not make too much difference IMO.

On the LT1 cars GM had a dealer installed package for the camaros dubbed the F-1 package. part of the package was a SLP CAI (chrome, it was nice looking). I can remember a few magazines doing test on the SS VS F1 Camaros and the F1 made more power and ran better at the track. they said this was due to the SS setup having to pull air across a hoy intake manifold.
