Hey guys. As some of you know I'm working on a 1957 Monogram Bel Air kit. I originally planned to do it bright red, then Toyota Medium Red Pearl, but I can't find the Toyota paint, or a nice bright red. So, I was thinking about some Krylon paints. Krylon makes a Flourescent yellow for indoor/outdoor projects and I was wondering what everyone thought about it? Has anyone used these Krylon products? How well do they stick? Is it okay to clear coat them? Should I use a primed surface, or just a silver underbase?

Thanks for your replies.

Krylon Fusion is a Good Plastic Paint that has been released about 5 months ago. Krylon Fusion is the only krylon brand I used, and its pretty good for its buk.

Overall Krylon Fusion is Great, try some

Hey, I still use Krylon Original Chrome, GREAT product if polished with Tamiya Polish! Awesome chrome, the only thing is that u have to shake it alot or else the paint is so rough and bumpy, but if put in warm water and shaken alot, Great Results!

I've used the chrome and Fusion. They both work well, but I'm interested in the Flourescent paint for my 57' chevy. Know where I can see some results?

All flourescent paints require a solid, blemish free white base. Any other color just will not work. Other than Tamiya's flourescent red all others are ultra flat and will require a substantial amount of clear to get a shine.

First, almost any color is brighter over a white base or white primer.
The Krylon Flourscents should be applied over a Krylon white primer base and need to be clear coated for any sort of a shine.

If you want a 'normal' bright red, you could use MM boyds red over white primer. For a brighter red MM international red is silly bright over white.

The Lambo (linked in my sig) is painted with MM international orange over a white base, then was given a coat of amber pearl to tone down the orange.
:p

Ok. I have some Krylon White Primer. I'll shoot the body with that, then lay down the Flourescent yellow. I have a large can of clear, so getting a shine shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for your advice guys, I really appreciate it.
BTW, Ferrari, that Lambo looks great.

ive used flourescent yellow and it is really bright. Cleared over it too. Just use a light base free of imperfections.
