I have a cousin trying to buy a 240sx to drift with me. He is thinking of buying a 240hb with 180,000 miles for about $2000 or a 240hb with 100,000 miles for about $4000. He is going to swap the engine out as soon as he gets the car. In the long run is it better for him to buy the 100,000 mile car? I've been saying by the car with 180,000 miles so that if anything goes wrong with it he would have more money. What do you guys think he should do?

well it all depend if he's keeping the engine but you say he's not so no it doesn't mater. Tell him to get the one with 180,000 miles and probably with the extra money even get a sr.

well with a higher milage your going to have a bigger carbon build up. and that build up of carbon leads to lower compression. and the lower compression causes a loss of power, which is never good. :(

in my opinion i dont think that 180,000 miles is that bad. my friend has an mr2 with 280,000 miles and it still run strong. so i dont think you have anything to worry about. :)

Well for a swap, it's more then body that you have to look at, as for mileage, you really have to know what kind of driver the previous owner(s) was.
