i need some opinions.

Hey, i am graduating high school in 03' and going straight into college, and because of this i can skip xmas, and b day, and wrap it all up to getting an evo 7. (like $29k) on payments.
but i was thinking that maybe since ill be in college and all, i might want something more classy (no insult to the evo 7 at all) like a used m 3 for the same price from the dealer for the same price. will the evo 7 have more of a performance potential, how about power potential, and could i make it custom very easily and classy (like throw some sparco seats in) . im sure you know what i mean, replies are greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

My advice to you is actually working for an Evo instead of having it thrown in your lap from mom and dad. Dood yer 17 and you have an RSX already....christ....

No offense man....I just really HATE people that don't work for what they get. Like that friggin teen girl in the latest mercedes commercial....I wanna slap the shit outta her.

I gaurantee it's going to be a massive financial shock when you start having to get things on your own. When you actually have to work for it that is. Credit is a major issue.....especially if you have none.

I'm workin for every penny that I'm payin on my Saturn, and I'll work for every penny it takes until I get my Evo.

don't let hooby get to ya. while he may be right about you not understanding the real costs of things once you're on your own, he's just jealous that he's never gotten the better things in life without a lot of hard work and waiting. come to think of it, neither have i, but i don't have a problem with rich people. you want class so that the girlies will be looking at you. an M3 is fast, but a used model won't impress as well as a new M3 would. besides, no matter how much any girl says she doesn't care who's car is faster, when you pull up next to the guy next to you and blow him away, she'll love it. and the Evo VII in britain is equal with the new M3 in acceleration, and kills it in the twisties. if you want a car for driving, get the Evo. if your main concern is impressing everyone, than the harder ride and less refined interior might not be your ticket. in which case you might be better off with the M3.

Get the Evo VII, keep it for 4 years...then get the M3 when you graduate college.

I am graduating from college in May and I am getting the Evo...

Also, 29K will get you a used '98 M3 off a lease, with like 40,000 miles on it and somebody probably beat the shit out of it anyway.

i am def with every1 else, get the damn evo, when you graduate, get a m3, since you are gettin 27k right now, i am sure your parents will give you some money when you graduate, try to get a new one...even though theres a wait..its worth it..

sometimes Jealousy is not the right word to use especially when HOOBY's point is trying to show the "HARDWORK" kinda point. Its such an accomplishment when you try to strive and workhard to make ends meet. Although it is also nice to have more MONEY to spend. The thing is it doesn't matter if you have an M3 or an EVO when it comes to showing girls what you have - It's how your composure is when everybody is looking/staring at you - that's what counts..... If you are deciding among the two cars - i'll get the EVO VII ... oh one more thing
my rich c-mates back in High school where every year he drives a b-new BMW. I simply swept him off by showing a fully restored, all dressed up, show-ready WILLYS MB ...:D :D

I work for what I get because I want to, not 'cause I have to. My parents have plenty of $$$ and have offered to buy me cars before, but I turned them down, because I'd rather work for what I get. I appreciate it that much more. It makes me appreciate where I am in my life a lot more too. I could be broke, on the streets, beggin for $$$, but I've been given this position in life, and I'm not going to take it for granted by letting my parents buy everything for me.

I don't hate rich people....by all means, I'm probably rich myself. I DO hate people that don't work for and appreciate what they have. Not a day goes by where I don't see some little stuck up prick roll up next to me in his Mustang GT that mommy and daddy bought him (sorry for the stereotype), look over at me in my Saturn, and roll his eyes. If there's one thing in life that I hate with passion, it's that dumb ass in his Mustang GT.

I really don't mean to get on yer ass morgnum, but I guarantee you that you'd appreciate that Evo a lot more, if you yourself worked to buy it.

Let me get this straight, you turned down your parents offer for a car, then you save up uyour money from working, then you bought a SATURN, and you say you did this cause you didnt want your parents buying everything for you...

I dont buy it, and im pretty disgusted you would make fun of morgnum because hes young and his parents bought a car for him. who gives a shit, ur the dumbass who decided to save up his money to buy a saturn.

back to the point...if i were you i'd get the M3 if you can get one with low miles for the same price because i agree, its a classy kind of car...but if you want something with a little sport then go for the evo. Either way you are pretty much set.

First of all...there's nothing wrong with a Saturn...Have you ever driven one? They're not bad cars...I've seen plenty of nice Saturns on the road that could probably take down the Evo if given the chance.

Second, did I rip on your choice of cars? No....grow up.

Third, the Saturn is a means to an end. I bought it, because I can pay it off before I get my Evo and I can use it as a large downpayment. I got into a farily serious accident in Sept and I had to buy a car within a couple days of the accident because my old one was totalled....I bought the Saturn because it was a reasonably priced car, with at least a little performance aspect. I didn't buy an expensive car at that point because I: 1. wanted the Evo 2. go to $25,000/yr. school, so I needed to save $$$ for school.

Sorry again morgnum if I offended you....I meant it only as a bit of advice. If you do decide to buy a car, or even if you get one from your 'rents....I'd say get the Evo. BMW's are too played out...they're great cars, don't get me wrong, but every exec. on the road has one.

Ralliart, why the fuck are you going off on hooby? I will agree with him 100%. My parents are no joke when it comes to money. They always offer me things and sometimes i take it and others i dont. I bought my grand prix for 10,000 from my father. I had 9500 and my mom spotted me the final 500 dollars. Do you know how nice it was to know i had bought it with my own money? and the 500 my mom dished out was an incentive saying, good work son, you deserved this, only made it more sweet. Its nice to have your parents help you get things, but when they flat out get it for you, theres always gonna be that, gimme gimme attitude and there really is no value of, hey i did something on my own. Hooby is just a work instilled person, he knows the meaning of hard work and knows the outcome that will become of his hard work. NO matter how hard he works, or how pissed he gets because its taken for ever, deep in his mind he sees the finish line and knows when he reaches it 1, 2...55 years from now, he'll be internally happy. As for hooby buying a saturn, maybe he isn't RICH or maybe he didn't have the money to buy a better car, so he bought a less expensive car. Hell atleast he isn't in financial debt because he decided to buy a supra. Atleast he isn't trying to always have the best, instead he is going for the best, by saving up and waiting for the evo.

NO where in hooby's post did he put down morg. Hes just stating the value of a hard earned dollar over the value of something given to you.

Granted id take 29k from my parents, but it wouldn't feel right. the lottery is just a scam that everyone thinks will land them rich, and fast, through ignorant thinking. Whoever wins the lottery, more power to you. THere is a big difference between money given to you and money won from the lottery. FIrst of all you spent 1-xxxxxxx dollars and here you are getting this nice reward. The lottery isn't your money to begin with, so it to me, would be money found on the ground. Yes i would take an imported evo, but thats all id ask for, from you.

Plus, the lottery is a nice insentive to always working for things.


oh...the lottery is mere random luck. It is known that you will get money from your parents if they have a considerable amount and spoil oriented, but it is not known if you will win(get) money from the lottery.

my recommendation is not to get anything especially fast. don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you won't be able to handle it, I'm merely suggesting that, in the long run, it'll be better to drive a less showy, slower car. this is not because I'm jealous of you opportunity. I come from a poor family and have been poor all my life. I have had two friends that had more advantages than me, one of them got fucked up in a car accident he had while driving his BMW too fast on a mountain road while drunk. The other is a spoled prick who doesn't appreciate anything, had his house purchased FOR HIM BY HIS PARENTS, is a total prick, and makes fun of me for driving a car made by honda just because he didn't have to pay for his 35000 car. I would wait until you have the means to buy it on your own; by that time you'll probably have all of your stupid tendencies under control and will better appreciate it.

Amendment: The above was not intended to discourage you or make judgements about your driving skill or personality. It is simply my opinion that you should have the self control not to buy too expensive or powerful a car until you're maybe at least a year or two older, and can appreciate both sides of the power curve, and have a finer appreciation for the car itself.
