Ok first things first!
When it comes to Cars I am a total idiot. BUT I am starting my new hobbie and that is learning and doing as much as possible to my Tib.
So lets start by getting all the flames out of the way LOL :smokin:
Ok so I have the 2003 witch I bought in 2002 lol for my 30th B-day. V6 Automatic - No traction control or ABS. I only have a cold air intake at the moment.
This car is a daily driver for me right now. That may change depending on what options become available aftermarket.
I am looking for as much HP as possible without having to change my internals untill after the waranty is done.
So basically: What is available so far for the Tib? I have gone to the twin tubo link and thats seems sweet for the price and performance.
Any help or direction on where to start or what to read first would be great. I decided to sign up for this forum because most of you guys realy know your stuff and whats going on. So please help a newb start down the right path in making his Tib (my baby) a fast sweet ride!
Or you could tell me to just go to hell! ROFL

You might want to try www.newtiburon.com Nothing against this forum, but there are about 100x the amount of people on that forum than there is on this one. Probably find more help there.

youre not messing with teh warranty at all.....
... you can do anything you want to your car... and adding a super charger.... exhaust..... turbo.... headers... pistons.... rods... so on and so on... none of this voids the warranty..... UNLESS! the dealership can prove to you that one ofyour aftermarket parts cuased a problem with your car....]
see...... if you go in for a faulty window motor... and you go to bring it in.. and the dealer comes back and says he cant touch your car cause you have an aftermarket exhaust..... tell him youre not an idiot and he has to fix teh problem...
jus be careful with instalation of teh mods... and take care of your car... youll be fine

From talking with the manager of the service department for the Hyundai dealership I purchased the car from, He pretty much says the same thing as Nisco.
I am not sure how accurate this information is but I also read that aftermarket parts will not void your warranty. However for everything you replace it is now your responsibility. There was a law (wish I could find the article if it still holds true) that protects people who mod their cars.
You definetly need to be carefull in what you do. The guys I deal with are very cool (well so far).
But I do appreciate the info and warning! Very thoughtfull.
Thanks

The law that Nisco and others mention that protects us from dealerships saying that we cannot add aftermarket parts cause doing so would void the warranty is called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and it can be viewed here (http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/magnusonmoss.htm).
Now you have to understand regardless of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the way Hyundai has set up their Warranty Rules and procedures is that if an aftermarket part is installed and replaces a genuine Hyundai part then the genuine Hyundais parts' warranty is void. The aftermarket part replacing it would then have its own warranty. Hyundai has no obligation whatsoever to do any warranty work on the aftermarket part.
This is stated in page 24 of the Official Hyundai Warranty Coverage guide (http://www.santafemods.com/Downloads/WarrantyCoverageGuide.zip).
Further more, in section 4.1.14 of the Warranty Policy and Procedures manual (http://www.santafemods.com/Downloads/WarrantyPolicyandProceduresmanual.zip), it states what is not covered which are...
Damage or failure resulting from:
1-Use of parts other than Hyundai Genuine parts
2-Any devices and or accessories not supplied by HMA
3-Modifications, alterations, tampering, or improper repair.
4-Parts or accessories used in applications for which they were not designed or not approved by HMA.
True, Hyundai would have to prove that the aftermarket part is the cause of the failure, and most dealers realize that it is to their best interest to continue having good customer relations with their customer. Therefore alot of them do not mind the aftermarket items being installed. In fact some are doing it themselves realizing the profit potential in selling and installing such items. But there are some that still refrain form doing so and can and will tell the customer the warranty is void thus having the owner to pay for any repair caused by the installed aftermarket part. The odds are in the modifiers favor but still it does happen.
It also depends if the dealership/service department installed the part. Dealer A would not mind installing a supercharger, etc (if they knew how), but Dealer B would not, so you go to a third party. In both cases the the warranty to the engine is null and void. But the supercharger has its own warranty. If anything goes wrong with the engine down the line, dealer A (since they installed it,) would work on the engine and the aftermarket item, dealer b would tell you to go to the 3rd party for the work unless you want to shell out the money to have them do it.
I have done countless modifications on my Santa Fe and all have been minor things, anything major such as a supercharger, dual exhaust I would not even do until my warranty runs out and this is only because my favorite dealership would not work on the warranty part being replaced if the aftermarket item were to be installed.
So bottom line, No, minor modifications as adding altezzas lights, K&N filters, neons, etc would not void your warranty if done right and if the instructions were followed correctly. (Besides if done correctly there should not be any problems down the line.) But major items such as superchargers, dual exhaust will void the warranty unless you get it in advance a written statement from the dealership thats installing the item that it would not void the warranty.
Now I say all of this from the modifiers point of view, and I could be missing something or totally wrong in my analysis of the warranty. Maybe fellow member lowsonoma1999 can give us the dealerships point of view.

... hey dick... did you read what was posted?.. or did you jus skim through it all....
if the aftermarket part causes a problem with your engine... then the warranty is voided...
der!
...the clutch isnt even covered under warranty... and the clutch is a piece of shit anyway...
pistons and rods can be safe from anywhere between 250-275... 300whp on some applications...
but if you wanna do things right ... you upgrade that stuff... not jus drop in a forced induction system and be on your way...
the 250 whp RUMOR has been proved wrong... the internals on the car can handle up to around 300 whp

Yeah I actually read about that 300hp somewhere.
I would love to add a turbo or supercharger to my Tiburon, but alas, I'm still in high school and even though I bought the car, my parents are still against most mods, except for the Super Street Intake that I added a while back, so I can always just add on the stock filter when it's time to go in for the repair check, and then add my intake back on afterwards :D.
