Hey guyz. As most of you know, my cx motor bit the dust a few months back and I didn't want to waste a bunch of money rebuilding it. Anywayz... today I scored a 5th gen Si motor. I get the D16Z6 (1.6L SOHC VTEC 92-95 Civic Si) motor, b16 transmission, Si ECU, Si radiator, and new axles (w/ good cv boots ;)) with a 5 lug conversion all for just 500 bucks. You really can't beat the price. A buddy of mine just swapped a b18c1 GS-R motor into his 5th gen Si hatchback... so he hooked me up with his old stuff. Nice, huh? Anywayz... I just wanted a temporary motor and I sure got one. I still want a b18 series... but this will sure do for now. He told me he might even hook me up with some new wheels (white) and a Black Widow 2 kit since he doesn't need them anymore either... but I'm not sure if I will except them... I don't really like either. Maybe I should tell him I want them, then change my mind later and sell them. :D Hey, will I need a new wiring harness because of the vtec?

Anywayz... tomorrow... 10:00 am sharp... I'm going to start working on the swap. I don't think I'll be taking pictures of the swap itself because I will be anxious to just finish... but I promise I'll take pics of the finished work. See you guyz in this thread tomorrow night... I'll be the dude with the big smile on his face!

I will be most happy about just being able to drive my baby again... it's been parked in the driveway for 3 straight months. :( Hopefully that will all change in a big way tomorrow. :D

:( It's cool... we'll still get the motor hooked up tomorrow. My fault. I don't know what transmission we'll end up using... I thought he said b16... but maybe he was talking about something else.... not the transmission. Thanks though... I feel stupid, but I learned something. :D

You can use your CX trans; the gearing isn't ideal, but it will work. Trust me, it will still feel a lot better than the sick 50whp you had before.:D

can;t wia tto see some pics of the new engine you got and have you back on the streets tearing it up...:frog:
Oh yeah and since the new motor is a VTec and all I think you need the harness and ECU to make everything hunky dory...:alien:

I think my CX transmission is screwed... but we'll find out. I'm just waiting on my friend to come over... he's bringing a flatbed so we can move my car to his place since he's got a cherry picker.... plus his old motor is over there. ;)

This guy... this "buddy" of mine... well, It seems he's not much of a friend. He helped me out with a lot of things and I was really beginning to trust him... and when he said he had that motor for me, I was really excited. We were gonna go to his house and I was gonna look at the motor before I payed for it, but that night, he couldn't make it because he was helping a friend who got in a car accident (or so he said). The next day, he comes in to my job and and tells me he already pulled the motor out of his Si (which I've never seen) and he said it's all ready to put in my car. He told me that he pulled the motor out of the car so that he can put his new b18c1 motor in it. He also said that when removing the transmission it slipped and fell on his hand... his hand was all screwed up and it looked like 3 knuckles had joined into one huge one... so that led me to believe him. He also wanted to know if I would be able to pay him that night so that he can buy the motor mounts for the b18c1 to put in his car... and then he would show up at my house the next morning... early... between 10am-noon. I was at work and busy... but I was also excited to get my car working. I felt I trusted him well enough so I gave him 490 bucks which I had in my pocket (I should have had him write something on paper... but I didn't 'cause I'm and idiot). He told me thank you and he would throw in a set of white rims and maybe even his black widow 2 body kit. Again... I felt excited about it all and I felt I trusted him to come through with it... I mean, I see the guy at my work 4-5 times a week. I had just remembered that I never showed him where I live... and when I told him that I live behind Lakes High School, he asked if I had a black Civic hatchback with a blue scanner. I told him I did... and he told me that he knows where I live then. That was kinda scary. He told me that he lives near me on 117th street by the 76 gas station. He then gave me his phone number which was (253) 983-0319. Anywayz... he told me to be ready early in the morning so that they can get working on it and finish as soon as possible because they have other things to do later that day... so I said okay. The next day (Tuesday) I waited all morning for the guy to show up... and he never did. I called that phone number he gave me a million times through the course of the day and nobody ever picked the phone up... it will just ring for hours. So... it is now Thursday... and this guy named Cody (or so he says) who I usually see 4-5 times a week, just disappears. I haven't seen him at all this week and there's no way for me to find him. I went and looked for a 117th street by the 76 gas station and, guess what, there is no 117th street. This pisses me off, but I deserve it for being so stupid. There are other people that know him in the B&I where I work, but they don't know him any better than I do.

Do you think I should file a police report? I mean, I probably have him on camera because of the store serveilance, I have witnesses to me giving him 500 dollars, I have his description and his friend's description that was with him when I payed him the money, I have a name, and I have a phone number. Though the name and number can be fake, we still might be able to get something. Also, he told me he goes to Curtis High School... if this is so, I'm sure we can find him. Also... I know things about this guy that can get him in jail. Should I do it?

don't worry you'll get ur money back
i'm taking BLAW which is about contracts.
Although you haven't got a written document, just track him down first of all. Did he ever hand you anything for that money? if not its your word against his. the contract is still valid since there was no revocation nor rejection. if he did give u at leats something, you can prove to it in court that he gave you the item as part of the good to be received from him. I also say you kick his a**

Try to get ahold of him, and if you do tell him you want your stuff or your money back or youll be filing a police report. Go down and file it anyways, its easier to just tell the police later that he finally gave you the stuff then explaining why you waited 2 weeks or something to file ...

do u know where he lives? where do you work? does he have a credit card? track down any transactions get the card number then call the company and get his info. ever see his car? do you remember his license plate #? those are my suggestions.

Man, I feel really bad for you, I hope that you get this fucker. Take the survelance tapes to the cops. That should help. Call the high school and check to see if there is a student by that name. Good luck!

OGRED
01-24-2002, 04:29 PM
i agree look at transactions and find out his name, then today file a police report and give them his credit info, that way they can track his ass down and either get your money back or your engine, but in any case file a report asap the longer you wait the harder it will be for you to get your money back. The police should ask people around you for statements to, so make sure to have them get those. my advice turn him in asap

GhettoLegs
01-24-2002, 04:35 PM
I don't have any credit info... he never came in to buy anything... all he did was business... trying to sell cd players, tach's, wheels, etc. He obviously stole all those... so if he gets caught I can get him in so much trouble. Hell, the motor might even be stolen (though he told me it was legit).

I do know what he drives though... a '93 style Honda Accord... gold color... really dirty and trashed up.

I just read the first post, and I was gonna say something like, "cool man, good luck witht he swap." Then I read on. That sucks. I hope you get the asshole. but you really shouldn't have given him the money without even seeing the motor. What shitty luck.

i dont know about in your state but in every other state i have been in a verbal agreement is just as bonding as a written document. christ a verbal agreement here in florida is better then a written one. if you say someone can rent a place here and they agree and you revoke that later on they can sue you for your property and end up owning the place in the end.

file a police report

what happened is theft and fraud no matter which way you look at it. i would also consult an attorney on any other options you may have. people oftenm forget the true power of thier words. and if you have the evidence you proclain you do then it shoudl be a fairly open and shut case. who knows you can use your knowledge of his theft ring to your benefit and tell the cops so they will give you more priority. beinga narc sucks but i'll narc on a fuckin thief any day because they are the lowest form of fuckin trash that infects society that i know of.

in every state a verbal agreement is just like awritten one. its just harder to prove ya know? if the seller did not say a word and the buyer drop the check underneth the door and took the goods. this would be considered and agreement b.c the seller could have revoked the offer, but chose not too.
i enoy my blaw class.

Know what sucks... some of my friends (even my own brother) bought some goods off the guy and they knew they were stolen. If I rat on this guy and he gets put away for theft... and then he in turn rats on my friends and my brother... will they get punished too? If so, this really sucks.
