1965 Custom 500 Help!!

Hi there-- I've just bought a 65 Ford Custom 500 that needs an engine rebuild. I am going nuts trying to find resources for this car on the internet! Does anybody know of a site with specs for this car on it?

I also have a general (ok stupid) question. A couple of my mechanically inclined buddies have suggested I drop a new engine in this car. Currently, it has a 352.... they are suggesting a 390-- but I don't know if putting a 390 in this car would require a new transmission....
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

The Ford 331, 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 406, 410, 427 and 428 were all variations of the FE (Ford-Edsel) block used from 1958 to 1976.
The 390 is the most common version and is a very good and affordable choice for your car.
It is a direct bolt on, and the transmission (if automatic) and all your accessories should fit. If you have a manual trans, make sure the doner engine has a clutch pilot bearing drilled into the back of the crankshaft. An engine from an automatic trans car will not have this.
The engines that are larger than the 390 are high performance variants that are rare/expensive.
