Ok so heres the deal. I thought B18c's were atleast $3,000 ? This site I just ran across, offers it for $2,000. Is this a good price or no? All they say that it is a B18c, and a phone number to call for more information.

I'm skeptical...

The cheapest I've seen a USDM B18C is about $3-3500, but that's usually for the entire "package" (ie, motor, tranny, ecu, etc...). The only way I could think this would be legit is if it's just the motor.

You didn't post the link & without being able to look for myself all I can do is guess.

the average B18C usually goes for about $5k
you can't even get a B18C1 for $2k

B18C for $5k???? Damn they are rippin people off. Where are you getting those prices. Most GSR swap packages are $3k-$3.5k depending on which generation it is.

It jusr depends on which B18C he is talking about. The JDM B18C is 2 DIFFERENT engines...the first is the B18C from an Integra SI-R. This is the JDM equivalent to the GSR, though it outs down a littl emore power at the wheels, 178hp, and has a higher compression...10.6:1. The second B18C motor is the JDM Type-R, which has 200HP, 133 ft-lbs of torque and a 10.6:1 c/r. 5K is about right for that engine package. The vavle cover is of course red on the type-r B18C and it's black on the Si-R B18C, so that's an easy way to tell which one it is lookign at the 2.

In Japan, the engine codes don't have numbers after them, so no B16A2 and B16A3, no B18C1 and B18C5. All B16A's are just that, B16A, regardless of vehilce and generation. And all the B18C motors are just that, B18C. No B18C1 for the SI-R (JDM GSR equivelant) and no B18C5 for the type-r. A GSR swap may cost 3-3.5K, and an SI-R B18C swap should cost around that too. However, the Type-R B18C should cost around 5K,which is exactly what kicker stated.

You too are just probably thinking of the 2 different JDM B18C's, he's probably thinking price wise of the type-r B18Cand you of the Si-R B18C.

I know what your talking about. And in Japan the ITR motor is coded as the b18C-R and over here it's the b18C5. If he was referring to this motor then he should have been more specific.

Its a whole front end clip off an integra, b18c for $2k... hmmmm, its not the type r, its the SI-R, but still its worth atleast $3k right? I might go pick this up, sell my b16, sell this for a little more, get an h22a finally.

It's not coded B18C-R on the block in Japan, it's coded plain B18C on the block. No matter though, as that's not the point.

In regards to being more specific, thats a valid point, with the codes being so close on the JDM Si-R and JDM Type-R, it's important to identify which you are refering to so people don't get confused. Still, most of the time people can figure out on their own which one someone is taking about, though it never hurts and can often be a good idea to be specific, as not everyone will figure it out.

Simple way to end all the debates. What color is the valve cover red=type-r black =si r.

both are b18c in japan. most people posting are right its either a sir-g which is the gsr over here or it is a type r motor.

some things to look at would be the head. a stamping on the head is a p72 on a gsr or sir-g, in the us or japan.

a head of pr3-1/2/3/4 whould be a type r. although it could be a b16 head also.

dont look at the valve cover. all dohc vtec b series motor vavle covers are interchangable.

plus a sir-g mani of course would be different.

as far as looking at the block. not too much to look at. unless you drop the pan and look at the crank or look in the spark plug holes to see the pistons.

another way to look at the head to see if it is typr r would be by looking at the intake side near the distributor. there is a green marking on it, dont know why, but i guess that is how honda marks them to know the difference.
