I want to put headers on my 95 Z28 Camaro (LT1). "Shorties" look like the easiest to install but will I get the same horsepower? It needs to stay street legal. So far I have looked into BBK, Hooker and Edlebrook but really don't know which is best. Need input. Thanks.

I have BBK on my car, but if I could go back and do it again I would DEFINATELY go with long tubes. The shorties are great for a bolt on car, but if you have heads and a cam at least in the future, get the long tubes.

I agree shortie header's will give you maybe 10 -12 Horse at the rear wheels if your stock but long tubes will give around 25 -30 with slightly higher investment. I would go with Hooker Long Tubes and use a high quality gasket and some arp bolts to get a tight seal (alot of people's headers cause a exhaust leak)

any idea what a set of MAC headers would do to a 93 3.4L, any idea on the HP increase?

what are you talking about? are you talking about the ported manifold that SLP put on the LT4 Hawks and SS? not worth the $$ IMO.

I'm running the Edelbrock TES shorties right now. They're "OK" but I wanna ditch them for long tubes. I wouldn't even bother with shorties cause you'll hate yourself when you end up replacing them.
Nevertheless, I've heard that SLP made a good LT1 shorty that worked very well with single cat systems using the stock tubing, or up to a 3" cat-back system. If you go with long tubes, utilizing dual converters and a 4" collector & cat-back is the best (legal) way to go. I've seen a couple custom 4" exhaust setups like this on a 305 Monte Carlo and LT1 Firebird - pretty sick.
Whatever manifolds you decide to go with, remember to get them coated. It'll keep em looking nice, keep the exhaust gas hotter and the engine bay cooler.
And BTW - a good performance shop will make non-street legal headers pass emissions for you. Buy the manifolds, have holes drilled for O2 & EGR fittings, THEN get them coated. More times than not the car will pass emissions easier than before.
