A rancher (http://www.ardmoreite.com/images/072398/rancher.jpg) needs to put up a network of fences on his land to contain and separate his herds (http://www.drislink.com/slink/lego/redoubt/village/herds.jpg).
He has 7 acres of land, which needs to be divided into 18 roughly equal small segments, and 4 large areas. He figures that his preferred layout will require about 300,000 linear feet of fence. The fencing company informs him that he'll need to purchase fence posts to hold up the individual segments of fence, each of which are 20 ft long.
How may posts does he need?
(For the purpose of this exercise, disregard the implications of fence intersections. Assume the rancher prefers to err on the high side in order to purchase a nice, round number.)
