Is the A/C condensor fan supposed to be on constantly when the A/C is turned on? Or does it just come on every once in a while like the radiator coolling fan?

I believe it comes on and off.

Well damn... I guess I'm just low on Freon. Frickin' R12 is too damned expensive.

convert to r134a, the changeover kit is like 40bux from the auto store.

Yeah if you change it over make sure you buy the retrofit kit, if you just charge it with 134 it wont work.

I've got a question.

I'm retrofitting my system now and was looking through the partsamerica website and they list two differtent kinds of oil for the system: PAG oil and Ester oil.

I have a Saden compresser and was wondering which I should get.

Pag

Thanks for the reply, I've looked around the net and most say ester oil is the way to go for a retrofit. Just trying to get a concensus.

PAG.... or go with a Duracool conversion kit and recharge with PAG or ROC Universal AC Oil. I went with Duracool instead of r134a, and was very very happy with the performance. Much cooler than r134a.

Thanks for the info, I also wanted to ask if the same oil would be used to assemble the lines and fittings (o-ring connections).
Thanks again. :)

Yes. You use the same oil. Just remember to replace all the o-rings when changing over from R12 to R134a otherwise your system could start leaking. R134a will eat the old rubber o-rings. The newer o-rings can handle R134a
