Since those lights require so little energy tag on wiring is ok.

i just got a blue one but mine isnt running for some reason, i got a switch with three terminals ground, acc and power, i split the neon wire in two and used the stripe one for acc and the other one for ground, this is the part i think i messed up on, i used speaker wire if thats ok and used the copper side for power and ran it to my fuse box to the switch, then for the other half, i used it for grounding but it still does not work, someone please tell me whats wrong..

speaker wire is no good u wanna use the same gauge wire. go to home depot with a small pce of it i think is 16 gauge

yep...vinneys right..thats basicly what u want to do...i got a switch and i wired 1 wire to the lights, 1 wire to ground, and the other wire i ran to my fuse box and wired it to my cigarette lighter fuse. But if thats what u plan on doing you might want to get smaller wiring then 16 gauge. My fuses are small and i barely got it to fit because the wiring was too big for the fuse but i made some adjustments and its all good now :D

to splice the other neon into the existing one i would just use a three-way but connecter on the power wire from the new on to the power wire if the old one... then just ground the other side to whatever... i would also get rid of that cigarette lighter thing and plug it into the battery..

yeah but if you use the fuse it doesnt run your battery down...well i guess it depends how often you have them on...From sundown to sun up i have my neons on so i would run the battery down so i have it to the fuse instead.

just go to pep boys, auto zone, or any other car place and get the 2 slot adapter (not sure on the name) but then you can just plug that into the cig lighter and then youll have 2 slots. i believe it will def short if you try to twist them together.

I went to walmart and looked at the neon underdash lights , do not splice wires or youll pop fuses left right and center they are specifically set for one light.

Wow neons suck that much juice out of the battery? That doesnt seem right cus the alternator shouldnt have a problem with such a small power source bein added to it. Do what I did , test your charging system with all your electrical stuff on and see how much drain there is on the battery and see if the alternator compinsates and keeps it at a decent level of charge.

Well no it doesnt run down the battery that much...accually you can leave your neons on all night and it would suck very little juice just because it doesnt make much power to keep them running but I still just wired it to a fuse so it doesnt use any battery power. Not to mention my fuse box is right there on the dash so it was a lot less of a hassle to do it that way.

I'm looking for some help also, specifically I have 2 under dash neons, both of which connect to the cigarette lighter, now obviously that doest work. However i was wondering how i would wire them to the battery or fuse box etc so i don't need the cigarette lighter part? I would just have a switch on the dash to control them, just wondering where i can power them from? Any help would be great thanks.

Ok i really suck at directions unless im doin it so we'll see if this makes sence at all. well first off you need to but a switch from like autozone or someplace and some wiring (probably 16 gauge wiring). Its quite simple. Cut the part that u plug into the lighter off both neons. Now, switches have 3 main places to wire and it should even say what wire you need to connect. Theres a spot for your power source, ground, and then your lights. So what your gonna wanna do is take the wiring and splice the wire to the neon and then run it to the switch. Then do the same to the other neon. Then your gonna need to run a wire to ground which basicly all the wire has to do is touch something metal. Then ur gonna need a wire to run from the switch to the fuse. I ran mine to my cigarette lighter fuse and it works great. Just take out the fuse, then wrap the wire around the fuse and plug it back in. Then they should light up once u flip the switch...I dunno if any of that made sense or not, like i said i suck at directions...lol

I ran into this problem too. I use my fuse box to feed my neons, and it just depends on the type of car i guess... My friend has a civic and uses his head light fuse. So when ever he turns on his car his neons turn on. SO when I got my neons for my Neon I thought I could do the same... Turned out that they didnt wanna turn off... even w/ the headlights off... So i replaced the neons w/ new color changing ones that I could turn off and bingo, problem fixxed.

Well i have mine hooked up to my cigarette lighter fuse and it works perfectly fine. I flip my switch they turn on, flip it again they turn off. I had them installed for about 3 months now and havent had a problem.

Thanks for your help, I've worked out that is in fact the best way to go, just to ensure no sucking of power out of the battery etc. But umm. . . a little help with actually wiring something to a fuse, i notice theres a whole heap of plastic and the 2 metal bits, sounds fine, but where abouts do you connect the wire? Obviously the plastic aint gonna work but wouldnt wiring the wire round one of the metal parts get in the way when putitng the fuse back? if not does it matter what bit your wind it around, positive negative etc? Thanks again.

just get the 2 slot adapter...thats all u need... like 7 to 12 bucks

Yes 2 slot adapter will be better , you can find them cheap or cosmetic like , some slot adapters have leds or neons built into them as well so skies the limit there , they also have 4 slot adapters if you want more accesories. Its more convenient , makes more sense than hacking wires off and puting a switch in however you could buy kits that are hard wired off the fuse box and ensure the power is off without ingnition on.

well what u do is take the fuse out and wrap the wires around the 2 bits so the wire touches both bits. Then you just plug the fuse back in. If you have big fuses i would recomend gettin 16 gauge wire, but if u have a small fuse like I do, i would go with a little smaller wire. I bought 16 gauge not realizing it was too big and i couldnt plug the fuse back in but I did manage to get it to fit but it took a little bit.
