i have a question, any help would be great. we have a 2001 malibu and friday we took it out to lunch and then came back out and it wouldnt start, the motor would turn over but wouldnt start, and it couldnt be jumped. so we had it towed to the shop and they said tthey couldnt get to it till saturday so we stopped by and then said that they went out to start it and it started right up with out a problem, they replaced the fuel filter and a few other things anyways and said there was nothing else they could do. this car is a daily driver and i dont think its right that it will start sometimes then other times not like this. any comments would be appreciated, thanks

Has happened to me 3 times in the last 3 weeks on my '98. Problem is the ignition lock cylinder is going again (7th time). I trust your "Theft System" dash light was on. When that happens, you have to wait 15-20 mins., and then it'll start right away, as long as you don't insert the key too quickly and trigger it all over again.

I guess I have been lucky. I've only had to replace my ignition 3 times on my '97. Isn't there something we can do on the corporate level about that? Seems like a VERY common problem.

no i dont think so, (about the corparate level thang) but iv realized from personal experience and from other people that chevy makes there products to last 36,000 miles, which is there warranty, after the warrantys over thats when all the probs start happenin. although on our mali the fuel pump went at i think it was 35,700 miles, somewhere around there, didnt quite make it to where chevy had "hoped" it would. lol
