flip flop trunk, newbie here

hello all newbie here this website seems awesome. i just purchased a 2004 corolla s 2 weeks ago and saw on the computer a flip flop trunk on a 2003. they said they got all the stuff at the hardware store. can someone tell me how to do this. is it hard ? and can u really get what u need at hardware.thanks alot
