clickin valve cover

i kno that the clicking noise under my valve cover is common among mitsubishis and that it is loose lifters or valves or somthing. but can they be tighted relativly easy because im sellin the car and every penny counts.

Depending how bad it is, you can probably change the oil a few miles before it goes for sale.. mine only tick after 2000 miles into an oil change or so.

i changed my oil and they still click. soon as i fired it up i heard it agian. a mechanic i kno told me that they need the oem oil filter because it has a pressurised ring or some bs like that so i took his word for it but i still hear clicking. i put like 4.8 quarts of oil in it and your only supposed to put 4.5 in. could too much oil make it click???///

no... you might have a bent valve causing you to get valve lash... take off your valve cover and while there is no pressure on the roller rocker from the cam...(make sure the lobe of the cam is off the rocker) try to move it... if they are loose you most likely either need a new valve or a new roller rocker!

sounds like a pain i think i will just sell it while it still clicks...

Its a loose rocker arm. Take off ur valve covers get a torque wrench and torque it down to the specifications. You can probally find it anywhere on the internet. If that doesnt work you have a bad rocker arm.

There is a common problem with valve ticking, and you are so sure to suggest something else?

It doesn't go away right after you change the oil, it takes a while. The only solution is revised lifters, if that's the problem.

If that doesnt work you have a bad rocker arm.hmm... sounds interesting... what kind of rocker arms do you have on your eclipse seeing you CANT tighted them on mine! the only thing that would cause them to be loose is your cam is shot/valve bent/spring is bad/lash adjuster is defective... the only thing for this is a new lash adjuster... they adjust themselves! **

I retract my previous statment. I am new to eclipse world. I forgot that there dual over head cams. I havent got my eclipse yet but am getttin one soon. I am mechanic at a shop up here, but my bad on that move. The ticking could be from a long of things, I know when I had my grand prix and we installed 1.9 rockers they made a tick for a little while but when away after we changed the oil. I wish I was there to look at it and I would be able to tell you whats wrong with it, but in my opinion if your just gonna sell it just sell it like that. Just turn the radio up a little when they are listenting the the motor!!
