about 2 months ago i put a custom manifold,ss Autochrome wastegate, and a new remanufactured Airesearch turbocharger. ran for one day then it start making this weird noise and wouldnt boost anymore. so i figured it was my manifold since it had cracked in the past so therefore i replaced it with a stainless steel one. the new one has all the apropriate gaskets and the wastegate is hooked up correctly.
drove it and made thesame noise. now i hit like 1 psi on occasions but nothing higher. now also i noticed that my turbo wheel has a wable in it. i was wondering if this would cause my setup not to boost cause i blocked of the wastegate as well to make sure it would definitly spool up but nothing. this setup is on a 90 prelude and im getting very tired of messing with it. can someone help. is it the turbo????
there are no leaks, just a weird noise thats really loud

if you can't pin point where the noise is comming from...the easiest thing to do is to buy an automotive scope...(similar to what a dr. will use in a checkup)...this will help you determine whether it is the bearing in the turbo or something more serious...one way to tell if it makes any boost what so ever is to take the hose off the compressor houseing that goes to the wastegate....drive it down the raod maybe a 1/4 mile and watch the boost gauge....if it makes boost then the turbo is good and it may be more of a wastgate problem...

"now also i noticed that my turbo wheel has a wable in it". Dude, that cant be good at all. Did you physically try to wobble the impeller, cause if it wobbles than your turbo is definately on its way out. You also said that your maifold isnt cracked and you have no boost leaks....pretty much the only thing left is the turbo. Does your car smoke at all?

A turbo will have a little side to side play in it. That is very common and there is noting to worry about. Now if your turbo has in and out play, then its only a matter of time

it dosnt have side to side and in and out. it just wabbles. like when i 1st noticed it my wheel use to stick to the compressor housing. not the fins are curled up a little and the clearance is much greater than it should be??? so while it is spinning and u look at it the center section goes in a little circle.

how can it not have play in any direction but still wobble???? Grab the nut on the end of the compressor wheel. Then wobble it side to side. That is side to side play, this is ok. Now take and try to push it in and out, this is in and out play, this is not good.

you wouldnt be able to describe the noise now would you ?

I think what he is describing is a bent shaft, not a shot bearing. The bearing is fine, so it wont wiggle side to side, but if you spin it, the compressor wheel doesnt stay still, the end of the shaft moves around in a circle... Its not moving because its loose, its moving because its bent.. If this is the case, same situation.. your turbo is fucked. Get a new one or have yours rebuilt. You will probably need at least a new shaft, maybe new bearings, and most likely a new compressor wheel, since that one probably has hit the inside of the compressor housing.

Even if the bearings are fine, you will still have side to side wobble! very little but you still have it.

it is doing exactly what dupox said. i no that side and in-out are normal but it wables like the center of the turbine shaft is moving in a little circle. it makes a loud whistling/hufing noise like someone is blow without using there lips...lol it seems that my turbo is fucked but with this would it not boost. i already went to turbonetics and im looking at a t3/t4 hybrid
