I broke the inside door handle off on my 98 1500 pickup. How hard is this to replace? I purchased a new door handle part and am going to try to do it myself. Any tips? It has power windows, locks and mirrors.
Thanks

oohh. I had the same thing happen to my 98 last year. I had it replaced at a shop though. Something about a rod that controls the handle inside the door broke or came off track. Something like that. Good luck, you should be able to figure out how to install the new handle after you take off the inside door panel. :smokin:

The inside one are pretty easy, usually have to drill out a pop rivet

Jeremy-WI, do you remember the size of this rivet ? Do you know if they're available at a store like Home Depot ? I remember seeing some large rivets back when I was installing my "Jimmy Jammerz"

The reason I'm asking is I bought 4 Escalade chrome interior handles that I want to install on my Suburban.

I think it is a 1/4 inch, some people replace it with a sheet metal screw
You can probably get them at any hardware store, but you need a pop rivet tool to install them

It SUCKS! The inside one is a little easier than the outside though. It took me 3 hours to replace the outside handle the first time and then 2 more hours to fix the rod that fell off 3 years later. I would recomend letting someone else do it if you can afford to...But good luck!
