My heater fan switch only works on the highest speed. The schematic indicates that this is a problem with the resistor block for the different fan speeds. I can't locate it. I have had the dash all apart and tried tracing the wires without luck. Any help would be great.

The blower motor is behind the glovebox door. I'm looking for the resistor block.

My 93 is under the hood.......

Passenger side/ on the firewall just under/ behind/ below, the hood hinge.....you'll see a wire harness into a 1' x 2' black 'plug.......that is plugged in to the resistor switch.....

A top and botom hex head screw and the whole thing pulls from the firewall.......unplug the resistor.........

Worth looking for, eh?..............

Hope it's like mine.......easy compared to the 90 which is inside the fan cover!!!........??.................Ol'Ben

confirmed, i just replaced mine, when you open the hood, on the passenger side. 3 things will be in the way of removal/installation; the passenger side strut tower, the rain tray from the wiper assembly, and an A/C pipe. Remove the bolt that holds the A/C pipe to the strut tower and pull it away from the firewall. The resistor block is directly behind/connected to a molex connector that is in the firewall, it has a pinkish/red square of insulator (bakelite?) around it. Pry it out with a large flathead screwdriver. Make sure the latching prongs are bent out on the one you are putting back in or the unit will vibrate and blow again. My unit was $10 from the junk yard, was easy to remove once I knew what i was looking for, and as long as all the coils look sturdy there isn't much to go wrong with a used one.
