Hi Everyone, I have a 92 LeSabre that recently started giving me a code 26 and 36. I have one symptom to go with the codes and that is.... on an intermittant basis the car starts out in second gear. This is what a transmission specialist told me. The service engine light comes on briefly after this occurs .The transmission man said it was a short and that I had no real transmission problem. He said clearing the codes might be all I needed to do. I disconnected the battery for several minutes but code 26 came back in a few miles. 36 has not returned. I have read that this code has something like 9 different things that could set it. Those are...
- RPM relay
- Radiator relay
- A/C control relay
- engine overheat relay
- solenoid relay (throttle jack)
- wastegate solenoid
- canister purge solenoid
- check engine light bulb
- secondary injector circuit
I got this information from a non Buick forum but, they were discussing GM codes.
Can anyone tell me what to do with this information. Any help will be appreciated.

A QDM or quad driver fault. You have 2 quad drivers inside your PCM what they are is a circuit breaker. Each quad controls 4 circuits. One of the circuits is drawing to many amps and setting this code. Since you are having a trans problem along with this code I would suspect the trans TCC circuit being the fault. Besides the 4 circuits the PCM could be the fault.
There is no such thing as a rad relay, RPM relay, engine overheat relay, throttle jack or a secondary injector circuit.

Thanks for the quick reply. That list came from a forum in England. They were discussing the Lotus! So I need to locate the trans TCC circuit? Any hints?
Thanks again, Robert Hall

I have a 91 buick LeSabre custom and while the car is running I hear a whirring sound coming from the front of the car. I think it's the powerstirring but not sure. Any help would greatly appreciated.
