2002 Engine Roar

I have a 2002 Explorer XLT 4x4 4.0 90,000 miles that when taking off, it has little power but lots of loud engine roaring. It roars like a jet engine until about 3rd gear then gradually quiets down. Normal speeds of 60 or better is just fine. Roar is only at low speeds. Any answers will be appreciated.

I'm thinking the fan clutch has had it, not freewheeling. That would make it roar. As to the low power, maybe for the engine noise level youre feeling you should have more power. The noise may appear to diminish at higher speeds only cause the sound waves aren't reaching you then.
That's my best guess.

Changed the fan clutch and still have roar. Not quite as bad but definitely still there. Any other suggestions????????

The other day I noticed the engine seem to be a littler louder (roar) also so I cleaned the MAF Sensor and it seemed to work for me. Give it a try.

Is it okay to link to another forum? If not, sorry!
