these are my headlights :
1)is it feasible to open them up and paint the parts w/ the fake chrome black?
2)how do you think it would look (oh my car's black)

Put them in the oven at a temp. of about 275 for 10-15 minutes. This will melt the silicon that bonds the housing together. After you take them out, you should be able to pull the headlights apart. Do it slowly so you don't crack anything. I used a hairdryer to re-heat the parts that dried back up while i was slowly taking them apart. Spray paint the part(s) you want black and allow them to dry (preferrably overnight). Go to any auto pts. store and buy some sealant silicon. Re-silicon your headlights back together (Do a good job or they will fog up). Allow them to dry for several hours (if not overnight).
Here's how my headlights turned out:

May want to use HighTemp paint, But any good quality paint will usually withstand about 300 degrees. Do like Emerge said and you will be fine. But remember to leave part of it reflective or your headlights may not work so well anymore.

I used regular black spray paint from Advanced Auto Parts. I think it was Dupli-Color. You don't need to prime them or anything just paint on the chrome.

baking at 225 for 10 minutes was too long for my tails (haven't gotten the headlights off yet, also thinking about painting part of my old altezzas red, so they wouldn't quite be altezzas anymore, but just unique tails)
