Sorry to bother you guys,

But I d like to know if anybody knows if some online hobby shop still carries the Alpine spray made especially for the Tamiya Alpine, dont know it s reference number either?

Or the basic paintcode for that spray would suit me well too, or another brand of paint alternative too...

Thanks for input

Olivier

That would be Tamiya TS-54 Light metallic blue.

Planning on building another your yellow one was so beautiful that I think this will be equal or even more.

HLJ doesn't carry it anymore? I think they do.

Please post progress thread. And the best for your building!

NO,no,no and no. The TS-54 is the light blue metallic intended for the Orginal-teile DTM Mercedes. The Alpine blue is TS-19 and thats what I ordered when I got my Alpine A110 ages ago, but that color is not available from HLJ right now. But you could use the recepie in the instruction sheet. It's as follows: X-4:2+X-13:1+X-14:2

Good luck!

Alpine Blue was originally a limited edition colour. Orange R is correct, the paint is now available as TS-54 Light Metallic Blue, part of Tamiya's normal line. Same as some of Tamiya's other limited colours like NSR Orange and Raybrig Blue, now assigned numbers and easily available.

Take a look and you'll all see that they are not the same, the difference in hue is if not big, prominent. TS-54 is more like the sky and TS-19 like the sea.

Cheers!

I don't know about TS-19 but all the other Tamiya Metallic/mica blues vary in their darkness depending on the number of layers you apply. You can paint your Alpine any colour you want really but the traditional colour is quite light from what I can tell.

Yeah that's right, but I tell you that the original Alpine blue is darker than the TS-54. The difference in hue is not as prominent in real life as it's on the paint lids but it's clearly a difference between them. I tried to take a picture of my Alpine and the Mercedes standing beside each other, but it was hard to get a good shot so you could see what i mean. I'll try again later if you like.

yeah the alpine look wicked in the traditional blue but i think someone so vote for a change and maybe try a turqoise colour like that ts-54 but a lil lighter

Just payed a visit at my LHS and he had the original TS-19 Alpine-blue in his store. As we just got this range of paint to Sweden it's not likely that it's some old stock. So what I'm saying is that it should be possible to get it elsewhere to.

TS-19 is NOT Alpine blue, the original Alpine Blue didn't have a number, it was simply TS Alpine Blue.

So true :)

TS-19 is Metallic Blue, and what was once TS Alpine Blue is now available as TS-54 Light Metallic Blue.

Yeah here is a pic of the two. As I said before, you can paint your A110 any colour you want. However, Tamiya issued Apline Blue (on the right below) especially for the traditional colour. After some time out of production it has now been reisssued as TS-54, as seen on the left. They are exactly the same, none of us would say so if that was not indeed the case. You may debate the correct shade of blue required for the car but this should end the discussion re Alpine/Metallic/Light Metallic Blue. Woulda taken a pic earlier, if I'd known it was going to be open for debate.

And while I am in a picture posting mood here is a snap of an Alpine in something approaching the traditional shade of blue. What does everybody reckon?

Remember such things as lighting and surroundings can affect the perceived colour. Plus we as modellers have to take scale effect into account. All comes down to personal tase.

Looks like the original blue to me.

I rest my case. Hmmm, I think I have to clear things out with you all here. By the time I built my A110 I ordered the appropriate color from HLJ and what I got at that time was obviously the wrong one as I got the TS-19 metallic blue. Why they sent me that one I can't really understand as the guys at HLJ always done a good job as far as I'm concerned. So my appologies for being percistant about the wrong color, I can clearly see that TS-54 and Alpine blue is the same hue. All the better as I have to redo my A110 bodywork and has almost a full bottle of TS-54 in my workshop.

Thanks for the great pic! I have to agree the 54 spray looks quite the same, but hey sometimes the colour on the cap can be quite different, but I think I m gonna get the 54 spray as well.

Merci beaucoup!
