I feel really sorry for the poor guy who maybe bid on this! :grinno:

Guiloy made the WORST McLaren models for sure, and it's a big overstatement claiming this is "quality" items!

There is not a single Guiloy McLaren thats worth a cent over $50!

Maybe that explains the "quality" of the photograph!

Didn't you mean to say "There is not a single Guiloy McLaren thats worth more than .50 cents."

Seriously, that guy might get lucky and find a retard to pay the minimum bid, but there will certainly be no bidding war at that price.

I've never seen one of the Guiloy F1s in person, but I've seen many detailed photos and you can tell the details are off and the quality is just not there.

I've seen them in real life. If you think the photos look bad ...! :banghead:

I actually have two guiloy McLarens.
One of each type (blue F1 & red LM)
I paid less then $30 for them both.

Belive me they're (Guiloy) all wrong looking, the Maistos are ALOT better and the UT's in a class of its own (even though they also lacks some detail comparing to models today)

The max $50 for a Guiloy I mentioned earlier is only acceptable for the chrome LM which is rare.
Would still not have bought it though....

Crappy....so crappy...

I dont know why everyone says the Guiloys are like the worst models out there. I don't think mine is that bad. Its got the best suspension of any of my models. Its got a few errors here and there, but then again so does the maisto, and the second edition UT F1 LM also has a lot of errors. And the Guiloy one is kinda hard to find.

Firstly the Guiloy is WAY out of scale in almost all bodyparts, the wheelbase is really wrong including the tire dimension, the painting is poooooor, the color combinations are weak, lousy quality in materials (soft die-cast & plastic) etc..

But, the good thing is that their F1 model is based on the early XP versions :)

And that, my friend, may be the only reason I ever add a Guiloy road car to my collection.

Is there a 1/18th model that has everything that opens on it?
My Ut one only opens doors+engine covers and rear spoiler

Hmmmm.... the model may not be nice, but I like the framed picture in the background! It's just like the one Peloton cleaned up, except there's an extra inch of photo on each side!

None of the 1/18th scale F1s have opening side compartments like you will find on the 1/12th scale F1s. On both styles of the Guiloy, the front compartment (hood) does open up which you won't find on a UT or Maisto 1/18th though I don't know whether they bothered to make it look "right" inside or if it's just an empty compartment. You can see that here:

http://a5.cpimg.com/image/A7/05/34704295-6a48-02260174-.jpg

The strange thing about the Guiloy road car is that both the upper and rear engine covers open as one single piece even though they're separate on the real F1. :screwy: As you can see in the photo above, on the Guiloy GTR/LM version, just the upper engine comparment opens like the UT and Maisto 1/18ths. It also doesn't appear that the spoiler is moveable on the Guiloy road car whereas it is on both the UT and Maisto.

You can see the stange way the road versions engine cover opens in this photo:

In this shot you can see that the detailing inside the engine compartment seems very wrong as well:

OK, so I don't often post in this forum(once before I think), but I am Mclaren fan of both the F1 team and their road cars.

Been trying to rebuild my lost diecast collection(long story, involves moving across oceans), never had an F1 in my collection before but I am wanting to get one in it this time.

Which make of diecast do you guys recommend most?
I see the Maisto ones around, are they half decent?
Are UT as good as I hear?

This thread has me convinced the Guilloy ones aren't worth the paint.

Thanks guys :)

UT all the way :)

i have ut silver roadcar and LM, both are very nicely detailed.

of course not as detailed as the 1/12th's :D

i think the maistro ones are ok, but why settle for second best?

Yes, if cost is an issue, then go for the Maisto F1. They're quite decent, just not as good as the UTs. It seems that Maisto based their car off the design details of some of the early XPs whereas the UT looks exactly like the production F1s. In my opinion, the UT 1/18th F1s are as close to a true scale model of the F1 as you will find - it looks as if they simply shrunk the road car as everything is as correct as one would expect for the size car it is.

The original Guiloy McLaren that started this thread has now been relisted with a starting bid of $75 and a 'Buy it now' price of $200. :lol2:

Hmmm...somehow I doubt that statement :evillol: :lol2: :p

If you are trying to fetch $300 for the orange Guiloy LM you have to be either a retard or pure cynical evil :sly:

This guy is some piece of work, he's not afraid of trying at least!

I'm sure if you contact him he will just add more mumbo jumbo about this "awesome" model :2cents:
