240D Antenna Repair

The antenna was broken off. I purchased a replacement part which consists of a long white plastic strip (with teeth) connected to an extendable antenna. The instructions tell me to turn the radio on and remove any existing plastic strip. There is none that I can see. Then I am supposed to thread the new plastic strip into the existing antenna base and turn the radio off so the new plastic strip is drawn into the antenna base. The problem is that I'm having trouble getting the new plastic strip all the way into the existing base. I fear that when the old antenna was broken off that some of the old strip remained. I can't see any but it might be caught deep in the base somewhere. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks very much.

You are most likely correct in your assumption about the faulty antenna being broken off and stuck in the motor. There's about a 50/50 chance of that happening, at least in my experiences. The motor isn't hard to get too. Just remove the left side trunk panelling and the motor should be clearly visible. You should be able remove the motor and clear out the broken pieces. Hopefully the motor hasn't been damaged, they can be pretty expensive on certain models.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. It sounds managable.
