Need suggestions for traffic violcation

Hi

I made a stupid mistake which results in a $153 fine or $182 if I choose to go to the traffic school. Basically, I made a left turn around 1 pm when I drove from a plaza where I missed a traffic sign which disallowed a left turn between 11am-2pm. Can anybody give me a suggestion so that I can lower my fine? A police told me to go to the traffic school so that my DMV record won't be affected by the violation. Which one should I choose? Any suggestions on court appearance? This is my first time to get a ticket in my 8- year driving experience. The violation happened in Los Angeles (City: El Segundo), CA.

TRAFFIC SCHOOL because this in most states basically gets rid of the ticket for your insurance. It is much cheaper to pay the traffic school now that pay it through insurance. You could also try to get the ticket defered since its your 1st.

If you can go to traffic school, then it is probably the best thing to do.
Because when you attend traffic school, the violation record stays at the court. It won't be turned in to DMV.
You may ask for court date and explain your situation and the judge might lower the fine.
But there is an extra charge if you choose to go to traffic school (ticket fine + traffic school fees, this money goes to the court),
besides those, you will also need to pay the traffic school (money to traffic school). No matter what, it is still better than having 1 point on your driving record.

The other posters are correct. You have little chance of beating the ticket assuming the sign was properly posted. Just remember that you can only attend California Traffic School once every eighteen months so this option will not be available if you receive another traffic ticket in that time frame.

Another good thing about most of the courts in California is that they accept online traffic school. Here is a link for more information:
