Z71 AC Hose question

Re: 1999 Chevy Z71
I have two ~3/4 inch black hoses that connect to metal or plastic type fittings at the top of my firewall (under the hood) and which disappear into the passenger area. I assume they are hoses for the AC.

One just snapped off at the plastic type connector but I do not know what part name to be looking for at the local parts house, or even if this is a user repairable item. The engine is not overheating and there is no liquid coming out of the hose when disconnected. I noted the problem originally just sitting at a red light and "smelled" an overheating type situation. No guage movement tho. I noted liquid dripping from the hose at the firewall location and when I touched it, it just dropped away from the plastic fitting.

Could any of you give me feedback on the names of these connectors? I have a 2001 Suburban as well and looking at it tells me these are almost certainly part of the AC system but on the Surbaban, the hose connectors have "T's" which obviously lead to the AC system.

Thanks for any help you can be.

The fittings your refuring to are heater hose (quick connect) fittings, and they are plastic. Available at a Chevy Dealer

Just to the right of the heater hose connection, is your A/C Rigid tube penetration at the firewall, Two aluminum silver looking pipes with an aluminum tank (Accumulator) under alot of pressure.

Since your truck is 5 years old you might want to replace the rubber heater hose's as-well.
If the heater hose rubber got hard with age, this might possibly be what took out the plastic fittings at the firewall.

Good luck,

-Mike
