Building Auto-X Miata

A friend of mine is going to build a miata for auto-x, and I have a few questions. I know that for a few years, they made SOHC miatas, and I know we need to avoid these. What years were the SOHC, and what years were DOHC. Also, what were the problems faced with the miata w/DOHC. What is the bolt pattern, and what are the widest tires that you can fit without rubbing. Is the car single axle, or double wishbone. And finally, how much wieght can you lose from the car (A/C, interior, etc. Thanks

there were no SOHC miatas ever made.. there were all dohc..

the suspension is Fully independent double-wishbone

bolt pattern is 4 x 100 same as hondas

as fro removal of the ac and ect.. i wouldn't know you could try miata.net i'm sure someone would know from there

and tires i'v seen 255 on a 17''' but that was a v8 mustang not sure if it rubbed but yea..

yeah, which miatas were 1.6L, and when did they bump them up to 1.8?

90-93 was the 1.6 w/116 hp and 94-97 was the 1.8 with 128 hp. Weight savings from a/c would only be around 30lbs

*A friend* haha
does he/you race AutoX already I'm assuming not because there is a miata at almost every event anywhere. But if I'm wrong sorry. IF you are new to AutoX buy a Stock 94-97 miata and race that if you mod it you will most likely be bumped up a class or 2. and you want to be in the lowest class possible to start with.

I've seen 10.5x18 inch rims on a miata before the offset was what made it possible.

as far as weight they are 2250 Lbs. with spare.
you can get them to about 2200 with driver if you try
