A 3800 is front wheel drive, a 305 is rear wheel drive..

305 is a stupid Idea....

StyleZ24 Engines are not specific as to front or rear wheel drive. The 3800 used to be called the Buick 231 cid. It came out in the late 1960's.
I owned one in 1982 in the ugliest car you ever saw, but it was fast (turbo). It also came in the Grand National with twin turbos, also rear drive. You just turn the 305 sideways.

Now for the question. Unless the 305 is free, use a 350 (5.7 liter) or a 400 you can get a lot more power and torque out of this arrangement. You cannot bore a 305 to a 350. The water jackets are too close. Also to get any GM V8 in there you will intrude into the passenger side wheel well, so frame modification will most likely be needed. Maybe some thin pulleys???????? You will also need a 4T60 or 4T60E transmission. They will bolt right up.

So a torch and a tranny is all ya need. And even the 305 would be a real kick in a cavalier. I still have an old 1989 2.0 with 88 hp. It can only dream of being a V8. Any V8 :-)

So How Much Would Everything Cost If I Could Get The 305 For Free. Also My Step-dad Has A Friend That Could Prolly Putt Everything Together, So Basicly How Much Would It Cost For The Pulleys And Tranny?

I've seen the turned sideways engine in a Cavy, a 350. It was very interesting, and sounded very mean. By the way, what year did they twin turbo a G/N

I am not sure as to the year on the Grand National. It had to be the late 80's when the subject came up. I never owned or worked on one. I had a single turbo 3.8 but it was way slower than the G/N. My buddy told me they were twin turbo. I just accepted this answer as it didn't really concern me. Now I am curious....

if your going to go that far to convert a small car with a 4cylinder to a small car with a V8, you would save alot of time and money if you just dumped the cavilier and bought a fiero. 350 TPI motor will bolt up to the transmission and the fiero cv axels are rated for 348HP max. Not saying its not possible to run a V8 in a cavilier, but the ammount of modification you would have to do, the reinforcements to the frame that would have to be made.... may not be as stable as you would like and probably twist the body, not to mention the suspension upgrades you would have to do to support a motor that weighs almost 2x that of the 2.2l, plus breaks.... and even the loss of powersteering.
